I have the Bose 321GS Seris II System and the exact problem with the format unsupported issue! Our system is fairly new too. I just purchased a bunch of new DVD's thinking perhaps the DVD's were indeed defected. It's still giving us this message. Can someone help?

Some dvd players only play .avi files, the cheap ones use a pc dvd drive and will play most files, get a movie encode, ( some are free ) and encode the film into the type your dvd plays, good site to see what dvd's play what files is video help . com

My bose 321 is frequently refusing to play dvd's with an error message on screen which reads 'format unsupported'. These dvd's have been played on the same unit at sometime in the past. The unit is around...

thats technology for you !!!
Ok , your head unit need to be updated
Have a look at your brochure as it explains how to proceed with it .
It may have to be taken to bose for an update .
These models are sensitive and will demand looking after ( due to electricity fluctuation )

Format unsupported

Format unsupported simply means the unit can not read the disc. The problem is either the disc or the player.

Contact Bose technical support if you are sure the discs are good. 800-367-4008

ERROR MESSAGE

maybe the DVD player you got is not supporting all DVDs from around the globe. There is this thing called NTSC region 1 for Americas, region 2 for Europe, Region 3 for Asia, Region 0 for everything. I don't know the other regions but that must have been the problem.
