I have a 3 year old sony trinitron kv-27hs420. when you turn it on it stays on for a couple seconds then the screen goes pink and it turns off. and the light blinks 7 times. i found out that the light blinking means...
Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltagehas exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown.Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits.
i also got the diagnostics screen to come up for a few seconds and these are the three codes that came up.

my questions are 1:) can i make the repairs myself, i have done many repairs on alot of different electronics. but i am a little afraid to work on tv's because of the high voltage.
2:) where is a good repair shop in the dfw area that wont charge an arm and a leg to fix it?
I cannot, in good faith, go about recommending shops, as I am not in the referral business. However, Ruckers TV in Arlington has done me right in the past....accordianman

Most of the time this is caused by two ic chips on the circuit board, ic8001 and ic8002. These are components that can be replaced fairly reasonably. If you call a repairman it should cost 95-165 us dollars. However, this is just an educated guess. Good luck, Russmann.
Find the service center, ask for their help, because there's nothing that you can do alone. The problems starts from the TV board, usually need to re-soldering.
KV-32HS510 and KV-27HS420, seven times blink error code shows problem in Horizontal deflection circuit.
There are many possibilities like dry solder joints, weak capacitors, Horizontal transistor short or flyback transformer fried etc.
If you have little experience of TV repair and good solder skills and have necessary tools to test / check defective parts, then you can make it. you also need to have related service manual to see board location, schematics and part numbers.
The screen control inside the set may be on the highvoltage transformer or on the crt socket; either way if you can turn it up just a little clockwise and the picture comes up but doesn't look good you are likely to have a bad tube. Or try tapping lightly on the glass neck and watch the picture as you tap. If it reacts to the tap you have a bad tube. but the turning the screen control is the best test. Turn it the other way the picture goes off immediately. bad tube: too costly if it is available.
You guys have the same problem.
Unfortunately bad CRT. You can get a tech to regenerate it and it'll work for another year or 5-8 month after that... garbage.
