I have the same problem with my flat screen. When you turn it on, the picture comes on for a split second, then the screen goes black. The sound is still there, but no picture

SOURCE: hello and thank you in

have you connected the optical cable. as the only way to get sound from the tv to the surround is via that link. the hdmi cable only send video and audio to the tv not both ways for some reason.

SOURCE: i just bought a dvd

Are you using the HDMI connection on both units, the SC-PT760 does have a HDMI input Yes/NO ? If not then it has HDMI output to the LG for HD Picture. What I would do if no HDMI INPUT to the SC-PT760 is available, run out of the TV with the Digital connection into the SC-PT760 Digital Audio in, assign the input as tv and you shoild get TV audio out of your home theatre, you could also use the analog connection audio out of the tv to the home theatre but this would not yield a dolby digital sound.

If after replacing the lamp it did not light up.

Hi,Sometimes after replacing the lamp on their DLP or LCD people still keep getting the red lamp indicator or simply it doesn't light up.Most of the time people forget to close the door cover of the lamp area. There's a switch that's pressed when the door is full shut,if it's not pressed it will not let the tv light up for safety reasons.Another reason why it doesn't light up or keep getting the lamp indicator is because it needs to be reset it,for most tv's what works is to unplug it wait 5 min and plug it back again. For some Mitsubishi models they have a reset button you can press and that will do the work.Other brands have reset procedures like holding the menu button while pressing volume button etc. After you've done this and still doesn't light up you might be experimenting the most common failures like the ballast which is the board that powers the lamp. When the ballast is to weak to power the lamp it might light it up for some minutes and then will shut it off.The procedure and cost to replace it is easy and low in repair cost. This is something you can do your self, most instructions are on youtube.

This is usually an indication that the power board has had an issue at one time or another. Does it fade a bit after the tv has been on for more than 10 minutes or so? This happened to my daughters LCD tv after I repaired the power board. The expense to replace a video driver board or an lcd panel is usually more expensive than the tv is worth unfortunately.

How do I connect my flat screen tv to my Phillips MX3900 system

This is an older home theater package and only has component video out for HD and RCA or SPDIF optical out for audio. You'll need to locate the component video input on the back of your flat panel and connect it to the component output of the Phillips unit. Component cables have 3 RCA cable (Red, Blue, Green) for HD. You can use a RED/WHITE RCA cable for audio but if you have a SPDIF Optical cable you should use that for better sound. The TV should have that as an input also. You will need to go into the Menu for the TV and select component video and SPDIF optical if you went that route for audio.

Is there audio and is when was the last time a welcome screen came on (in other words, are you even getting that anymore)? I have the same TV but I only get the Mitsubishi Splash Screen only comes on when the TV powers off so I'm a little confused by that. Also how bad were the vents and filters when you cleaned them out and how is the ventilation behind the set? Have you checked the lamp? That's a two year-old set, now so I'm kind of leaning on you needing a new lamp. I had to have mine replaced last summer. You're supposed to get 4,000 - 6,000 hours out of them but depending on your environmental conditions, that lifespan can be dramatically reduced as dust buildup and poor ventilation will cause it to overheat the lamp and normally before it's going to go bad, the TV knows this and starts getting hinky as you described (will come on but then shut-off, etc.). In my case between the wife and three kids and the dad (me) who only gets to watch his shows on the DVR after all the kids are asleep, our set is on 8 - 11 hours a day and longer when I watch the kids at home two days a week so I easily blew through the lamp lifespan in 18 months.
You should check the lamp. Refer to your manual, but it's only two screws in the lower right of the back of the TV, Use rubber gloves as well. If it is the lamp go to Mitsubishi's website and order them. They're OEM and only $100 and cheaper than any of the after-market ones. Also Mitsubishi warranties them and if you need it immediately, you can call them to place the order and just pay an extra $50 for overnight delivery. I've had to do this my TV and my in-laws and I've been very satisfied with the Mitsubishi customer service.
Let me know how it turns out.

Are you getting this on all video outputs from the DVD? the yellow analog out + the red/blue/green + the S video? Did you try connecting a different source? a digital cable TV tuner, or another DVD player? sometimes DVD players get screwed on some outputs, while the rest stay fine. I have a DVD that has an analog video out that shows an only black and white picture, while the red/blue/green works fine. Good luck
