Would like to buy a ballpoint needle for Brother XL-2610 machine. Co you sell them? What size should I get for fine cotton jersey? The manual says to get 75/11-90/14.

For light weight cotton use size 11 even 10, thinner ones, instead for heavier fabric use size 14 that is thicker.

Get an assorted pack of ball pointed needles and test them. The needles below are for your Brother machine.

Brother swings machine bs 2430 needle size and number

The owner's manual should explain what needle system to use--most US domestic sewing machines take 130/705, but that isn't true for all of them. If your manual doesn't have the information, contact your local Brother dealer.

The size of needle is determined by what you are sewing, ie silk fabric would probably use a Universal needle size 70/10 or smaller. A heavier knit would probably take a Jersey (ballpoint) needle size 80/12 or 90/14. Denim fabric would probably use a Jeans needle size 90/14.

Brother se 2700 will not sew on knit fabric

Check that you are using a ballpoint needle, designed for knits. Also, be sure that the thread is not 100% cotton thread.

First time on Brother XL 2610, threaded correctly but thread will make loops and then pull apart. WHat went wrong?

try adjusting the upper tension
change the needle
if you recieved a instruction manual with the machine, look for the part that tells about what fabrics go with which needles, & the thread should move easily thru the needle eye with out any problem

I bought a new Brother XL 2610 about three months ago and with a number of medical issues, my wife is only now able to begin use it. While going through the manual and checking a number of online...

No. The manual in the box is for several models of machine. One version is a 26 stitch, the other 35. You probably have the 26 stitch model, which does not come with a needle threader.

I have just bought a Brother XL 5500SE. I am having problems with sewing jersey fabrics. I need a stretch stitch=SS- but cannot regulate the stitch length. and the dial of stitches available e.g. 13...

i would use ball point needles and check my manual for what they suggest for stitching. Sometimes the shell stitch is great and other times I use the straight stretch. If, you look at your manual you will see a chart as to what the best size needle and thread for your project. Don't be afraid to experiment, just relax and enjoy. All it costs is a little scrap material and you can teach yourself so much. Go online for support if you need it at Brother-usa.com and they have frequently asked questions there, too.

Need to get a straight stitch on invisible zipper on jersey fabric

Try putting an interfacing, (I would use a lightweight fusible) on the back of your fabric to give it stability. Should go in fine, because there is stability. Good luck

Needle size replacement. I ran out of spare needle for my Brother XL-5500 sewing machine. Does anyone now the size and model of the replacement needle? thanks

. Schmetz is excellent, Singer etc. Needles all work in the machines but most of your sewing will be done with an #11, but denim, for instance will be at least a #14, #16 depending on what you are doing. Buy an assortment of sizes, sharps for regular and ball point for knits, they are very inexpensive. Do not keep a dull needle in your machine, throw away old and start every new project with a fresh one.

Sewing machine tension?

Hi! This might be a tension issue, but it also could be caused by the needle. For stretchy fabric you need to use a stretch needle or at the least, a ballpoint needle. (see my tip about which needle to use).

Let me know if this solves the problem, ok?

Happy Sewing!
