posted by sara jane on Feb 09, 2008

I have a ford falcon 99 that I just brought I want to put a new sterio in it. I know how to wire it up but i cant get the panels off to put it in. I dont know where to pull or to unscrew just so i can access where the old sterio is.
I have the same problem.

Clarification Request

Never seen one before. Looks like an Escort. I would start by taking off the bezel panel, and the plastic is pretty sturdy, but if you pull hard enough it will break, so be cautious. Wiggiling it will sometimes reveal where and / or how it is mounted. If you lay on the driver's seat and look up, you should see screws on the top part of the panel. It may also have screws or push-clips in the lower portion, sometimes hidden by an ashtray or coin holder. If there is a center console, believe it or not, that may have to come out of the car to reach the lower portion of the screws. Quite often the car will have to be placed in a different gear to facilitate removal of the center console. Once you take off the front panel, there should be mounting screws on the front of the radio, as well as at least one on the back. Be sure to disconnect your radio fuse before beginning wiring, so that you don't short it out, one of the leads will be hot at all times.
