This monitor has no speakers built into it, nor does it have any audio ports. It only has a vga port for video.

No sound coming from built in speaker

Is your computer custom built? Or a factory built one? If it's factory built I'm going to need the model name.. For an example I have a Dell A950. It's name can normally be found on the front or back.

I need this because I can't help you solve your problem if I have no idea what hardware you have. Therefore I can't know where to get the driver to fix your speaker. The built in speaker probably needs a specific driver to be used.

Warning label on screen

It sounds like a 'mute' icon. Check for a corresponding button on your remote control.

Just to clarify - You say the TV sound is fine but you do not use the built-in speakers...

Can you actually get any sound out of the TV speakers? If you can't it is because the TV is on mute (For your type of setup you will need to turn it off mute and then just turn the volume all the way down.)

If you can get sound out of the built-in speakers and the icon is still showing, it is almost certainly going to be a fault with the TV. You could try unplugging it, leaving it for a minute or two and then plugging it back it. This may well reset it.

Hope this helps!

I can not tell in my monitor has speakers

Most monitors do not have built in speakers and the ones that do have them are usually of fair quality. Look for speaker grills under your monitor's screen. Didn't find speaker grills? You can buy computer speakers at a computer store or at Walmart. Your computer, desktop or laptop, has a green jack that you plug a set of speakers into. The volume control may be on the speakers or on your keyboard.

No sound coming from my Dell 173FP monitor

This monitor does not have built in speakers you will need to buy some... The AS 500 soundbar fits on to it but is now not available. See if you can find it second hand.. Or buy USB speakers that fit into the back of your PC as the mointor does not have any ports.

Need to over-ride built-in speakers so desktop speakers work. Ever since I hooked up my Compac W17q monitor, the built-in speakers have taken over, but I want my desktop speakers for sound instead. How can...

Assuming your using a Windows operating system, you need to got to the sound settings and set your computers soundcard as the preferred output device. (Its under Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices in XP)
