Either the brush roll is not turning, or you have a clog at the inlet by the brush roll or in the hose.

Seems to be sucking up the particles from the actual carpet, either the pad or carpet itself Help???

It sounds like there may be sand in the carpet. If you live in a sandy area, this is not unusual. Walking on the carpet will cause the fibers to rub on the sand and eventually be cut through. The vacuum is strong enough to pick up these fibers, but not the sand that's causing the problem. I recommend buying a vacuum that has enough suction to pick up the sand. One that you don't have to replace every couple years.
My recommendations would be: Aerus (once Electrolux), TriStar, Filter Queen, or Royal. Avoid any that have plastic fans, as the fan blades will wear down fairly quickly with sand being vacuumed.

Does not pick up lint on carpet

I have a four suggestions. First, check the wand and see if the suction vent is completely closed. If this little vent has the slightest opening, the suction is reduced. cSecond,if that's not the case, you might want to check the brush/roller area. Threads and fibers caught on the brushes can prevent the vacuum from picking up lint. Third, make sure there are no fibers in the wheel of the vacuum head. And fourth, make sure the bag is not full! I often forget to check and back and a full bag is one of the main reasons a vacuum will not pick up items. I hope this helps. If one of my suggestions solves your problem, please contact Fixya and rate my solution!

Our machine works 3 minutes - and then 10 minutes it does not

The usual suction problem with these things is related to a clogged lint filter. I had the same problem as you with my carpet being completely soaked. Try checking the lint filter. It is located in the top clear plastic section (the one with the dial to switch from tool to floor use). There is a small (1 inch square) red plastic filter on the under side. Try flipping open the little door and you will probably find it clogged with hair and carpet fibre. Clean it out and hopefully you will have suction again.

Does not pick up loose lint or fuzz from carpet.

Sounds like the belt is loose or it's not on at all. Make sure the belt is wrapped around the brush and is locked in by the metal.

Dyson o7 animal pick up problems

Hi.

If your machine is A few years old it may need new brush roller fitted.

To check roller for wear lie machine on the floor & pull back head end as if vaccuming carpet.

Now get A rule or straight edge hold this over brush roller & sole plate oppening.

Now rotate brush slowly by hand the bristles of the brush should just kiss the edge of rule. If ther is a gap you will need toreplace the roller.
