Question about Mitsubishi WT-46805 46" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Half Dead mitsubishi wt-46805

This TV was left behind by a tenant. No picture or sound. Power button light does come on though, and from the back left of the set comes a clicking on/off sound. Is there anything a layman like myself can check easily? I'm thinking of hauling it into a shop to get checked out, but I think $200 might be my limit before it goes to the dumpster/craigslist for parts.

    What exactly is a "yoke connection", and is it a labor cost, or parts cost?
    Is it worth it to sink $200 + on a tv nearing ten years old that, from my peeking inside, looks fairly complex?

    I have the same problem. The Mitsubishi WT-46805 unit. Just out of nowhere it does not come on just a click then the green light comes on next to the power button stays on for approximately 3-5 seconds then clicks again and shuts off. I am fairly knowledgable at working with electronics and how to use a multimeter if someone has a wiring schematic they could post up or something I can check the parts that are most likely out. Thanks ~Heath

This condition can be caused by multiple failures, however this unit has chronic bad yoke connections. Difficult repair for a layman but not for a tech or shop. Most likely 200 to 250 for that repair. Other more serious failures sure to cost more.

    Each CRT has a yoke and it is a very complex repair that would require a tech. The cost would be mostly labor and I'm not sure I would invest over 200.00 on a unit of that age.

Sounds like audio output IC is bad.Hope this helps. It is on the center circuit board on a little heat sink directly in front of the large Convergence heat sink. It is referred to as IC3E01 and the part number is LA4663. Hope this helps. Let me know if i can assist you further.

Mitsubishi WT 46805 ~ Picture gone..... :0(

Good Day, Corri;

It sounds like the TV has a Circuit problem in the convergence circuit. If it comes and goes then the concern can be corrected by re-soldering the 'conv' output IC"s. A semi-minor repair and cost.

Good Luck, big IRISH.
