The handle release pedal wasn't allowing the handle to lower. I took off the pedal and saw the spring load part was broken. What is this part and how to replace it? Bissell 3760-3 handle release

Order Slider Release (7.93, vacpartswarehouse) Pull off 'tank.' Remove 3 Screws for Foot Detent Lever. Pull off. Remove old slider release and spring (verify it's broke.) Replace with new. I just did this today after a year of dealing with it.

Foot Pedal Broken

For the handle release, part number is Detent Lever 2030052 Try bissell.com, or call a local repair shop, if they repair Bissell's, then they may have this part in stock. You shouldn't have to take it aprt, there 2 tabs on the release that fit into slots on the base, there move the slots so as to release the tabs.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Mostly, you need to remove the top cover to the Bissell in order to get @ the handle release pedal. There could be screws on the bottom 2 or 3 screws or the top cover could be held on plastic clips or levers and they would have to be released then the top cover would come off.
This should expose the handle release pedal. If you need more information please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area in the yellow pages, or use the trouble shooting guide in the owner’s manual or you can call the Bissell factory @ the information listed below:

Broken handle release

Most times they don't break, it is the 2 screw holes at the back that back and the top will raise up from the base. If this is the case, remove the 2 screws and install longer ones with a flat washer on them to fashen down the top. But first the top will have to be removed to put the handle release in the right spot. You would probably look at around $60 to repair, unless the top needs replaecment, then it would be more parts.

High pitched screeching/broken handle release

For the handle problem, detent lever part #2030052 and costs $4 to $5. A bearing in the motor is what is making it sound bad, part #2032211 and will cost around $60. You could try bissell.com or call them. They can at least let you know who has Bissell parts near you.
