Dell 1501 vios2.6.2. reads missing operation system..then after 18 seconds it shutdown..pls..help... anybody has many opinion to fix it i appriciate it very much. tnks..

try formating your HD then reinstall your OS this might fix your problem it sometimes means that you hava some components missing so it prevents windows to not start up.

Assuming the "electronic safety shutdown system" is operating properly, the system is shutting the heater down becausr the control board/photocell don't like what is being seen inside the combustion chamber. That is what they are supposed to do if there is water, trash, an air leak, a vacuum leak, a broken ignitor, a worn nozzle, etc.

Your job, as the troubleshooter, is to find out why the flame is not correct. Read the tips below:

try going to safemode w/ networking.

if you're using windows XP try this

to access that mode, shutdown the computer completely and after 20 secs turn in on again, as soon as you see the dell screen immediately strike F8 key continuously, if that is successful you should be at the advance menu options. use your arrow keys to choose and highlight safemode w/ networking and hit enter. if you see your operating system after just hit enter again.

once at safemode try to pull up internet explorer if still this doesnt work, go to the contol panel click internet options if your in classic view but if not click network connections first then click internet options. click the advance tab, that should be at the least right hand side, click reset which is under restore advance settings.

if your using IE8 at windows XP operating system, try uninstalling the IE8, to do that try the instructions below.

click start
click control panel
click add/remove program
find and click the IE8 then click uninstall or remove
then restart the computer

if still doesnt work try to install a different browser like mozilla firefox, google chrome or maxthon

and if still doesnt work then try to reinstall the operating system back to factory settings.

There could be several possiblities for your shutdown issue. Run diags Fn+Power button, see if system power off running diags or in the BIOS. If the system remains running in both, shutdown issue is more than likely software. If it doesnshut off in diags.BIOS, try plowing out the cooling intake and exhaust vents with compressed air. Make sure system is on a hard flat surface where can circulate around the system and the fan is operational. If the fan doesn't work, it will need replacement.
If the system will run in the safe mode then software is likely for the issue and a good antivirus or anti-malware program my be of help

This is because of either the system has shutdown while it was processing a windows file. sometimes repairing the OS or running a CHKDSK /R in the recovery console will fix this problem. if that doesnt help i recommend you change your HDD

Can you go to safemode and check if you are able to see the icons.
Did you run a virus scan lately. If not you can try that.
