plug the ps in with power cable only no hdmi. When turning on Hold down the power button until you hear a second set of beeps you have now reset the video settings. Turn the console off and plug in your hdmi and switch back on it should now work.

I turned on my playstation 3. then i plugged in the internet cord. all of a sudden it cuts off. but its not the power cord.. what could it be

Most likley if its made a poping noise then the power supply box went out. Its a pretty easy fix and you can get new power supply boxes off ebay for about $20. Theres lots of videos on you tube on how to do it. If still under warrenty I would send it to sony.

Everytime i try to plug the hdmi cord inot the playstation it shoots sparks out and flips my breaker. 2 times, t different hdmi cords...what do i do!? I cant use it..

You might want to try connecting everything unenergised. Shut everything down (turn off buttons on both ps3 and breaker). You may even try unplugging the breaker from the power line. Now connect the HDMI PS3 to TV, audio cables, etc. Energise everything and turn on.

Can't watch dvds on playstation 3

No, but you do have to select HDMI output in the settings in the PS3 menu and make sure the TV is switched to the correct HDMI input ( Whatever one you plugged your PS3 into)

It won't Power On at all, all wires hooked up to it.

try to hold down the power buttin for about 45 seconds, if nothing happens, after ensuring all the cables are properly connected and everything is plugged in, I would suggest taking it back to the store you bought it at so you can exchange it for a new one.

Sony PS3 will not power up -

1. First check the power cable by removing it and then plugging it in again. You may find it is not pushed in far enough.
If that is good then follow these steps
  • The console might not be turned on. Turn on the console using the main power switch on the back of the console.
  • Make sure the AC power cord is securely connected.
  • Visually inspect the AC power cord for damage. Do not use if frayed, cut, or damaged in any way.
  • Confirm the wall power outlet is active (receiving power). Try a different power outlet.
  • If possible, test the power cord by connecting it to a different PLAYSTATION 3.
  • If possible, try another AC power cord on your PLAYSTATION 3.
  • If you experienced a power surge, shortage, or a lightning storm in your geographical area recently, this may have affected the PLAYSTATION 3 power supply and the PLAYSTATION 3 may need service.
  • Make sure the vents are not obstructed in anyway.
  • Make sure there is adequate ventilation for the PLAYSTATION 3. There should be at least four (4) inches of clearance between the air vents on the system and any walls, televisions, entertainment centers, etc. Otherwise the unit may not function properly due to what are actually environmental issues.
I hope this helped
cheers
John

Hdmi cord causing purple and green lines

It may be a ground loop caused by cable televisoin and the Ps3, as PS3 uses a 3 prong plug. Try unplugging the ps3 power cord and see if the lines go away. If they do, it is a ground problem...usually with cable tv. If this is the case, try a good quality power bar with cable suppression jacks on it. It will help eliminate the ground loop in most caese.

Play Station 3

When you start your PS3, press the power button and hold it for 5 seconds. It will beep and reset the machine to the default settings. What is happening is it is thinking you are still using the other cable. Reset to default and it will recognize the new cable. Hope that helps.
