Skipping My axis 9's work normally except they wont even play a full song without skipping. Its really annoying and i'm readt to throw em out. The cd's i use are fine, i even tried making new ones (being extra careful not to touch them) and the still SKIP! Any suggestions?

I have the same issue. Whats the point of having their flagship product if its gonna ruin your mix. In different spots it will reloop the same 3 seconds for no reason. The only way i have found to fix is to power off and on.

Have both Axis 8 and 9 models, both problematic, the Axis 8 keeps on skipping and getting into the 3 seconds loop that already got mentioned in this thread, I find that turning the deck off and on again does not reduce the incidence of trouble. The Axis 9 model tends to work fine a while then it freezes and stops responding altogether.

I have the same problem there but i no how to solve it....
its not hard just go any buy new good quality cds i found that sony work very well with the axis 9s and when your making new cds from widows media player just turn the burn speed down to med speed an best quality you do this by going on the littel drop down menu underneath burn go to more options then it will say burn speed change to med go onto the bottem slider and put that in the middel an it works like a dream

I found that you can do a few things to help this problem. Firstly you can wait until the BPM counter shows up, secondly burning CD's at 8x helps, also the lens on the Axis 9 players seems to get dirty very easily, if you firstly open the cd tray, then unplug the Axis 9 and take out the four screws holding it together and carefully remove the bottom half of the player you can see the small lens in the cd reading compartment. Simply get some lens cleaner and a cotton bud, dip the cotton bud in the cleaner then carefully wipe the lens and dry it with another cotton bud. This seemed to help my player immensely, I no longer get skipping, or at least I played for about an hour with no troubles. One good thing about the Axis 9 is they are easy to take apart without any risk of damaging the player itself . . .

The cd player goes into a "skipping" "playing really fast" mode occasionally. Esp. 3rd track, 1st cd. Always has.

It's having trouble reading the CDs. The thing that reads it could be dirty. But try a different cd. The CD player is getting old and if there is even a small scratch it will be hard to read it. A new CD player would be the way to go

Get a laser lens cleaner - the kind with optical quality brushes built in to the disk. If that doesn't do it, it's a more serious hardware issue and will require service or replacement.

3 disc Phillips cd player sometimes skips. It is

At some time in its life, the laser that reads the CD starts to get too weak to operate reliably. That's probably what's happening here. Unlike mechanical parts that can be inspected for wear, electronic parts tend to work fine one day, then the next, poof. The laser assembly is replaceable if you can locate the part and find someone to install it. An electronic service shop could give an estimate for repair. If you can provide the full model number, I'll see if I can find the part number.

Numark Axis 9's. . Problematic. Ahhhh!!!

Sorry, this isn't a solution but I just wanted to mention that I just got an Axis 9 and it is not playing burned CDs either. And I see another problem reported on this site specifically called "my axis 9 wont play burnt cds". What in the heck, Numark? Are all the Axis 9's this way?

Try a disk lowering your write speed, for when you burn. If your speed rating on your disks is 40x then try burniong at 1/2 the speed, I generally have a rule to only burn at half the maximum speed.

Hope this helps
