I have a older boze disc player which I bought in the U.S.. It has a U.S. Two prong plug. Can it run on U.K current or do I need converter as well as a two prong strip?

It depends on the voltage the disc player was designed to work with and there should be an identification label somewhere on the outside stating the voltage and the current it requires.

110/120 volt AC supplies used to be common around the world as did local direct current supplies but 220/240 volt AC supplies are gradually becoming the international standard.

lots of appliances used to be truly universal but as local direct current supplies are now virtually extinct, modern appliances are either dual voltage or single voltage.
Many small and portable appliances have been produced to work on either voltage - mostly selectable by a barely exposed switch and sometimes requiring adjustment to be made by removing a cover plate. Modern electronics has sometimes provided an automatic adjustment.

Most larger appliances are a single voltage type designed to work where they are sold. The information you require is contained in the instruction manual for the appliance and on the identification plate.

If your disc player is suitable for only a 110/120 volt AC supply you will need a small auto-transformer to make our 220/240 volt AC supply suitable for use.
If your disc player will operate on our voltage, all you will need to do is cut off the 2-pin plug and fit a British 3-pin plug and fit a suitable (3 amp) fuse.

I need a charger for my Panasonic Panabrator II. I have an Insignia AC adaptor model NS-AC1200. Have set it on #5 & plugged it in overnight but battery indicator is red. What can I do?

Double check your connections Make sure it is actually charging. Could be charging adaptor is bad? Are you sure polarity is right? Do you have a volt meter so you can measure the output voltage? or a way to use a bulb at the right voltage to see if it's actually working?

I need a new ac/dc adaptor for my pdv 709 ac100-240v 50/60hz 0.5a output dc 9v 2a efficiency level 1v factory id a

If you have the original adapter simply purchase a generic adapter with the same connection type, amp/current and voltage. Otherwise it will show on the products sticker, normally with the model and serial number, what input the ac/dc adapter uses. Im assuming from the information given you need to purchase a 9 volt adapter with an amp or current rating of 500mA or 0.5 amps. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Where i find ac dc adaptor durabrand portable pdv 705

You should go to a local electronics shop with the old adaptor.
They merely need to match: Voltage in Voltage out Current requirements Plug size Plug polarity (center positive or negative) There is nothing "magic" about the original vendors power adapter.

Where can I buy a replacement ac adapter for my pvs 133 dvd player

Radio Shack sell universal AC adaptors. Just be sure that you select the correct voltage and that the polarity on the power plug is set correctly. Most AC adaptors will have the center of the plug as +, but not all. The Radio Shack universal unit allows you to switch the polarity of the plug by just changing how it's connected on the end of the wire. Incorrect settings could destroy your player.

Power cord/AC Adapter

Unless your have some technical background and a multimeter, you are risking at least the battery pack of your laptop and worst case, the laptop itself.
Most devices that accept an external adaptor are somewhat protected against applying the wrong polarity of voltage but that protection is primitive and depending on the 'universal' (this really should be 'multipurpose-not 'universal) adaptor used, the protection itself can fail, exposing the circuitry inside the laptop that controls the voltage from the adapter to damaging voltage; this would get much more expensive than replacing the original adapter from the manufacturer of the laptop.
You did not mention the brand/model of laptop you have and with only the adapter listed, we can't help you much.

Missing AC adapter

If you look at your DVD player, it will have information such as 5V, 2.2A. This information will help you choose the correct AC adaptor. Head over to The Source, FutureShop, BestBuy, etc and bring the DVD player in.

As for a universal AC adaptor. These range from $15 - $50. Just make sure the one you get has the correct plug and voltage/amp range and polarity for it. The salesperson should be able to help.

Here is a picture of such an adaptor. This is a picture of the back of an electronic device, showing 5V and the polarity. If your player has no information with the AC port, you will need to look for a label on the device with this information.

AC adapter for SANYO Xacti

Radio Shack has a replacement adaptor for the Xacti VAR-G9,
You need the following 5V DC (Five Volts Direct Current) 2.0A   (Minimum 2.0Amps - more is OK, less is not)
The TIP is positive.
The unit I purchased from RadioShack is P/N273-1696 and works great for my Xacti.
Make sure you don't have any little kids who may change the switch setting from +5V to something larger.
Also pay CAREFUL attention to the TIP  voltage on the adaptor. The Sanyo takes a + Tip.
There are other cheaper solutions as well, but this unit can be re-used with other gadgets.
My Sanyo VAR-G9 AC adaptor failed after TWO DAYS out of the box, so I can't recommend buying a Sanyo VAR-G9, until Sanyo fixes their manufacturing problems with the units.
