If the heating elemnts are coming on but the drum is not spining then the motor could be bad or the belt could be broken that turns the drum. The motor could also be on a thermal overload in this case unplug the dryer or turn off the circuit breaker for 15 minutes and let everything cool down. After turn the breaker back on or plug it back in and give it a try if you hear the motor running but the drum is not spinning then the belt is probably broken and will have to be replaced.

How to replace a heating element on a Kenmore Elite Oasis ST dryer

Sounds like you need to replace the timer one the dryer not the element but to make sure I would do a little trouble shooting to rule out the element or heating coil turn on dryer cycle like normal for about 30 seconds then open the door to feel for heat if you do feel heat its your cycle/timer knob if you don't feel heat then it's the coil or element witch are the same also first always check your lint trap and ducts going outside the dryer make sure you have proper airflow through ducts vents. clogged vents ducts ect. Cause over heating of element coil causing a safety fuse to shut down heating coil/element but will not stop cycle also moisture censors detect moisture causing cycle to continue on hope this helps.

What does it mean when a dryer starts to tick like a clock

the ticking sound you hear is the timer motor.this is normal on timed dry.on auto dry you should only hear it when the heater is turned off.if the dryer shuts off and will not start after 20 to30 min. the motor has over heated and stopped to prevent over heating.venting is the no.1 cause of this.the vent system needs to be checked first.if it is a magic chef, admiral,or maytag under a few years the part below the lint screen needs to have all that lint removed every 6mo.

Whirlpool dryer shuts off at the end of cycle, but timer continues to tick. It ticks through the next cycle and stops ticking at that cycles off?

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

The timer could be the problem. To check this, turn the timer to a timed cycle say 30 minutes or so then time it. If in 30 minutes the timer hasn't moved and the dryer is still on, the timer is faulty replace it If in 30 minutes the dryer is off, the heating element is your problem

Heating Element
This is the most likely cause for some dryers timer not advancing. Some dryers have two heating elements and if one goes out the timer will not advance if you use it on an automatic cycle but you will still feel heat inside the tub. Replace it.

I THINK MY HEATING ELEMENT WENT OUT ON MY DRYER. HOW CAN I TELL FOR SURE AND HOW DO I REPAIR IT. IT WILL NOT DRY ANYMORE AND SEEMS TO OVERHEAT. I HAVE CHECKED THE LINT TRAP AND HAVE FOUND NO MAJOR...

first, make sure dryer is unplugged before removing cover. locate you heating element and with a multi meter or volt meter put dial on ohms setting or the setting that beeps when leads are touching together. your heating element looks like a coil of wire. remove the wires connected to each end of heating element. take the leads from volt meter and place the lead on one end of the coil and the other end on the opposite. if you do not hear a continuous beeping sound or no reading on your meter it is bad. if you do it's not. check internal clogg or the thermal fuse located near exhaust duct. the heating element has to be replaced. Whirlpool dryer model LGQ80000JQ4 starts to heat and runs then stops heating, but rest of dryer seems to run fine

Hello, This problem is going to be your safety valve coils...basically they get old and over time of heating then cooling develop a short when they heat up...It may appear the gas lights to start but then goes out until the safety valve coils cool back down. Here is a picture of the coils 57d5263.jpgThis The coils are mounted to the gas safety valve, This should solve your problem. Hope this helps, Please feel free to comment again if you have any further questions or concerns. Good Luck! Mike

Dryer not working

if, after a cool-down period, it can be re-started with same problem as stated, then the heating coil is in error. remove back panel and locate the heating element. Look for all electrical insulators to be not cracked and look for heating coil to be not stretched out or bulging and close to any other metal object. The coil can be fixed by pulling taut where it bulges and re-connecting it to itself so as to form a shorter length of coil. If insulators cracked, they must be replaced.
