Garmin Nuvi 360T won't find satellites

Nuvi360T has worked perfectly since last June, but yesterday wouldn't link with satellites, at all. Have completed advice to download software update to V 4.40 and reset the unit. It now has set clock to 01 April 2007 and the incorrect time and simply sits Locating Satellites for hours.

Same issue with my NUVI. Worked perfectly for months, now it is useless, wont find satellite, even after software update and reset. The update and reset only succeeded in making it have the wrong date and time since it cant connect to a satellite to correct. Bad experience with Garmin.

Our GPS can't locate satellites as of a week ago either... It's a Garmin Quest. Bought it refurbished by Garmin and it's worked like a dream since Christmas. Got all the software updates, reloaded all maps... still can't connect to satellites...

The last few days my Garmin Nuvi takes forever to locate satellite ( all right about 10-15 minutes ) but up to now ( since Christmas ) has been quick to locate. What is the problem?

I also cannot find satellites on my Nuvi 360. Called and emailed Garmin. I have upgraded the software and have done a reset. No help. It cost $200 to repair so I will not send it in for repair and will not buy a Garmin product again.

  • Cyberandy Aug 06, 2008

My Nuvi 360 suddenly won't acquire satellites and the time shown is the wrong time zone by 3 hours.  I just came to Hawaii and it is showing the time in California.  It worked fine when I came here but now is unresponsive.  I have software version 4.60.  I contacted Garmin via email but haven't heard back from them.  I reset the device but no luck.

sits for hours trying to locate satellites

  • sebass353 Sep 10, 2008

My unit suddenly stopped finding satelites as well (last august; after having it for just over a years time). At first it was able to find sats back again, but right now it doesn't. When I turn the device on, it will recieve signal for maybe a minute and then lose it permanently.. I've done all the upgrades and performed several resets. Didn't help.

    This sucks..

I should have posted this sooner.  I got hold of Garmin about my problem with the nuvi 360.  They were very nice about it and had me send the unit to them and they sent me a new one.  It was that simple.  I never found out what the problem was but the explanation from the other guy makes sense...... that the internal battery wore out and had to be replaced.  I am very happy with Garmin products and am glad everything worked out.

This product has an internal battery which has to be replaced by Garmin at a cost of approx. £138?????????

I own a Garmin Quest 2 and just started having the same problem this past month. I would never buy another Garmin again.

I have the same problem - not able to find satellites - date is not correct. As a last resort I am going to do a hard reset - if this does not work then it is the trash can for the nuvi 360 and I will buy a tom tom or other product. very disappointed in this unit.

Do a master reboot. Power it up holding your finger in the lower left corner of the screen. Say yes to the question. It worked.

Please try going outdoors in to a clear area and walk around for a while to see if you get a satellite lock, it might take a moment.

Ive been getting the message ''acquiring satellites'' since yesterday morning

Acquisition of satellite speed has been addressed in new firmware / system software updates for the Garmin Nuvi 200W .

I can help you fix your Garmin Nuvi 200W.

There are three steps to take to get your Nuvi running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.

Nuvi 200 series manuals available here.

Nuvi 265t: no sound or bluetooth after update

Your last upgrade fail.
Load V5.00, wich install the bluetooth driver.
Load this one to your nuvi F:\GARMIN\ and rename to GUPDATE.GCD.
After disconnect your nuvi from PC and downgrade firmware test bluetooth and sound. Then retry to update (Manual as above __530, WebUpdater or Garmin-Website).
Good Luck

Garmin 310. Bought March 2007, working perfectly until 1100 yesterd, then kept losing satellites, then coming back and so on. By 1200 lost all satellite connection. Satellite screnn shows no activity...

Please read the solution that resolved this problem for someone else. Most likely, you have already tried this.

If the above procedure does not work for you, the entire antenna assembly will need to be replaced.
The other option is to purchase an external antenna for your Nuvi and plug it into the external antenna port (gold connector) on the Nuvi antenna assembly.

Best wishes,

Garmin Nuvi takes a long time to Acquire satellite

No. 98% of the time it took 45-56 seonds for your NUVI 660. Thats the compagny set up time acquisition and it did very well.

Be sur you had your flip antenna parallel to earth surface.
660 has THE BEST SIRF Chipset for acquiring satellite.

I had 2 NUVI 660 since 2 years. It work much better than those new 7xx series who it really took 2-3 minutes to acquire satellite.

Be sure you update your version to the last one.

Best regards
