hey there is sounds like your tv is trying to tell you to replace the lamp
the lamp is running out of mercury gas and is starting do give up I recommend you get a new bulb

Check your convergence, Using your original remote go to the Menu, in the settings select convergence, try to align the colors to each other.

Sounds like your red tube (CRT) may have a short in it. Try turning down the color controls to zero then let me know what the screen looks like.

If the convergence is very far off the convergence ICs are bad and need to be replaced first. If the convergence is close and it wont correct it might just be an insect or some dust on the sensors at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock posistions behind the screen.

check for popped or raised tops on caps in power supply. also try unplugging set for 5 minutes and resetting it. How about does your color wheel spin up? if your color wheel don't startup then your tv will also shut down. also check all fans they all should be running at turn on. if all fails i would say its your light engine.

I just got this tv free and it will stay on for 15-30 minutes and then turn off. Some times it will stay on all day, though, so its kind of weird. I have the 5499HD
