I inherited this phone, and it must be pretty old: I tried all the help numbers in the manual and they were all disconnected or changed, with no new numbers given.
Anyway--the problem. It completely disconnects or else will interrupt the service. If I push the speakerphone button, it will sometimes correct itself. A couple of days ago I changed the battery, and now it is even worse. The 0 will flash a few times, then it goes dead. At least now it isn't giving everyone a busy signal for hours at a time. But I need the answering machine. Should I just buy another phone, or is there a simple solution?
Ruthm: It's time to say good bye to that old machine. The problems displayed are nonsense and cannot be correct by any programing from the manual. When the machine creates a busy on your line it is going off-hook for some reason. Waste no more time or money on this thing and buy one of the new inexpensive all digital models. Goodluck and good shopping. Jerry

Jerry,
Thanks for taking the time to respond. Any idea why it would go "off-hook"?

Thanks again. "Great week" to you, too.
