You didn't specify what kind of phone, but since most headsets now connect via bluetooth turning off the bluetooth service will disable the headset mode. Some phones have ability to use a headset that plugs into the phone as well. If the connector is dirty or gotten wet (corrosion), this can cause the phone to think a headset is connected.
wanna ask your phone has water damage right ??
ok,if some water has been remain at the area of charging or headset port, will make your phone show in headset mode, when i n headset mode, that why u cant hear people talking.but once u plug in headset,i sure u can hearing.it cant be solve even how many time u turn on and off your phone.

bro it looks like that ur earpiece has gone bad.need to replace it.bfore doing that though do connect an earphone to check that the voice is loud in it - if so then ul hav to spend sum money.ive heard of these problems bfore from xpress muzik phones.
assuming it is a wire earphone which comes bundled with the set then
as soon as u plugged in the set should detect and show 'earphone plugged in', if not the problem is with the earphone itself.
If it is ok and can,t hear, check for the user profile selected as 'Headset'.
Now turn on the radio.
To check whether FM is working or not [diagnostic verify]Warning: DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS
enter *#66*# to enter Factory mode. Go to the end of the menu & select FM Radio --> select any channel to listen hiss sound. If so the set is ok. EXIT now. Mind that the earphone wire only works as fm antenna for the device that's why radio is disabled by default till it finds the earphone is plugged in.
Keep some space blank in the phone memory as it may be the problem.
if the problem is something else then describe what is happening stepwise.
This is a factory defect from the switch inside the headset plug which when used will disconnect sound to the ear speaker on the phone and route it to the headphone or an ear piece. When this switch is closed by a fault you won't be able to hear anything through the ear speaker once the connection is established.
