According to microsoft website
Error code 0x800705aa
This error code occurs when the Dpcdll.dll file is missing or corrupted.also due to third-party program.
To work around this problem, replace the Dpcdll.dll file by using a clean Dpcdll.dll file that has the correct version.

Note To obtain the clean Dpcdll.dll file, copy the Dpcdll.dll file from a new installed computer.

or it is better you boot from vista dvd and during installaition select upgrade option ,or install vista on any other partition of your drive,.......

for more information click on the microsoft website

Should I remove Windows Vista on my Compaq Presario Laptop? It is installed as OE but I amm told Microsoft does not support it anymore

For the past few upgrade cycles I have upgraded by purchasing the best value new computers with the OS installed. I connect the old computers to the new via a home network. The newest has Win-7 and is much faster, however, the learning curve is steep getting all the old stuff to work. So for some stuff I still rely on the older machine. This has given me the best results.I still use Vista and XP, but if you feel compelled to upgrade do to security reason I would follow the following outline.
  1. Back up on an external USB drive all important documents. You must do this if not Murphy's rules will apply and it can be a train wreck!!
  2. Down load Acronis from Western Digital website. Make a Boot disk.
  3. Create a clone copy of your master C:/ drive on an external USB drive.
  4. Purchase a same or larger internal PC master C: drive "It must be a Western Digital for the free version of Acronis to work"
  5. Replace current drive with new.
  6. Using Acronis boot disk boot up and connect USB drive
  7. Clone new drive from USB with vista OS using the Acronis boot disk and confirm all is well
  8. You now have a way to go back. Your original drive still has the Vista OS with all your Junk and the new drive should have the same.
  9. Using the new drive go to the Microsoft website and go for OS seven. Keep your clone copy of the vista OS on the USB drive in case the seven blows-up during install.
  10. Retain the original C: drive with the vista OS in case you get into difficulty with the new drive.(mark the drive with date etc)
I have successfully done this for computers and keep a drive loaded with a known good OS for the day it all goes bad.

Sync-toy is the backup program that I use to keep everything up to date.

Hope this helps?

Tip

Windows Installation Disc VS Windows Upgrade Disc -NOT THE SAME-

Having Trouble Booting To Your Windows Upgrade Disc?

...Upgrade discs aren't bootable discs. To repair a windows installation, you must use either a system repair disc or, better yet, a windows installation disc (genuine Retail/OEM discs are pretty much your only option to completely reinstall your windows operating system, unless you own a previous full installation disc of a previously released Windows version (such as XP or Vista), in which case you could install that windows operating system and then upgrade to a newer windows OS like windows 7. however if you ever need to reinstall windows 7, you would either need to reinstall the older windows OS, then upgrade to the newer one.

If that isn't clear, I'll sum it up....

Let's say you bought a computer, that computer had windows xp home edition. Maybe you wanted to upgrade from Windows XP/Windows Vista or Windows 7?
Well in order to switch from Windows XP/Vista to Windows 7, (or even from Windows 7 home premium- to windows7 Pro or Ultimate), then you must either:
A) Buy an upgrade disc and upgrade to the newer desired version.
B) Or, Buy a Retail Copy of the version you want to install. (keep in mind that a retail Windows 7 disc can be used to perform an upgrade rather than to competely wipe the hard disc and perform a clean install (delete partitions, reformat, and perform a new windows installation), if you so choose.

The bottom line is, you cannot Install a fresh clean copy of windows using an upgrade disc. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and Retail Windows Operation System Installation Setup Discs are "Bootable Discs". Windows Upgrade Discs are NOT bootable. (unless one where to "modify that particular disc, which is not legal).

I want to get rid of windows vista and install windows xp

I suggest to upgrade to Windows 7 instead of downgrading because Windows 7 has better performance than Vista. But if you still want to go to Windows XP you have 2 choices.
The first is to format the drive where Vista is installed and to install fresh copy of Windows XP.
Second choice is to install Windows XP as second OS and at the end of the installation, at activation step, you have to choose activation by Phone. Then you should call Microsoft Helpdesk and provide the code of your Windows XP to the operator and tell him that you need downgrading Vista code. Then he will guide you to the rest of the activation and the downgrade of Vista.

Good luck!

Updating windows Vista to Windows 7. Getting error code 80070005

Its better to do a clean re-install than upgrade. You will have more problems after upgrade. Just back up your data (external drive recommended) before you re-install.

Upgrading the OS Windows XP not possible

Upgrading from OS Windows XP:

you can upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista(ultimate, premium, home, business.......),
you have to buy a Windows Vista CD and install a fresh copy or format.

Some Minimum Requirements:

i) Min 2GB RAM or atleast 1GB RAM(if you have>1GB RAM installation of Windows Vista will not continue)

II) External Graphic Card. for some versions of Windows Vista(to run Aero Interface, special feature only   in some versions of Windows Vista)

NOTE:

"Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor" is a software from Microsoft which you can download from internet, this  can help you determine which features and edition of Windows Vista will run on your computer.

i.e., when u load this software on windows xp it will suggest which upgrade version of windows vista          will suit your system(based on you system configuration. or hardware components.) and then            you can install the upgraded version of windows xp(mostly windows vista home,.........)

Thanking You
