Guy's, you are supposed to tell me! I don't know if there is worm gear (whatever that is). Is there a big label that say's motor and others for worm gear etc? That site that every one of you sent me to is just general. The HV-MX1 is a digital converter, I have what looks like mother boards to remove before I can even see in never mind find the motor, gears and whatever else is stuck in the road. Also the site for database does not list Aiwa, so that is just useless. So please. I know $9.99 isn't a fortune but a little more help would be nice.

    Thank you.

    Thank you,

How do I get the Service manual from your site? If I hit except will it take me to the download?

    again thanks.

  • camelothouse Feb 09, 2008

The site you are listing is the "user manual" I have the user manual and it say's nothing about stuck tapes (apart from conensation) never mind how to fix it. The site I would need is the "Service manual".
Thank you for your efforts but we do seem to be going round in circles. I have removed stuck tapes before from standard vcr's with ease but the MX1 is a different beast and unless you know the machine (it cost $650) this is not easy.

thank you anyway but I'm still at ground zero.

I have the cover off. I have removed the ciruit boards that cover the complete top of the machine. I cut the tape (it had to be sacrified) and pulled miles of tape out but still nothing. The drum is easy to see but the motor? On the right side there is a small metal canister and this maybe the motor but again I don't see any shaft in there. Plenty of spools and the tape still stays anchored to the mechanism, like set on concrete. Do you know where I can get a diagram that would show me what is what?
    Thanks.

Thanks but that was the sight I visited before contacting you guy's. I have downloaded it but can't see or print it because it requires WinRAR to extract. That means buying their system and for one print-out it's not worth it.

Hi,

locate the motor that powers the cassette carriage. If there is a worm gear in the mechanism, you must hand cycle somewhere between the motor and that gear. Once again, the shaft or pulley that comes out of the motor is usually the best place."

Here is the site which tells how to eject the caste when it is stuck.

Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate me as fixya..

    Hi,

    Give this a try:
Unplug the VCR, take the cover off, find the motor (probably on the
right side of the mechanism) and turn its shaft with your fingers until
you have run the tape back out. Now plug it back in and try it
again with a scarificial tape. If it continues to fail, replace
all the rubber belts in the mechanism.

    Hope ya fix it!

Hi,

Unfortunately, the best chance you got of getting the tape out is to open up the video to release the tape.

When I push eject the vcr doesn't open the door and doesn't eject the tape

This is a common problem, either the tape drive motor, or the driver for same has failed. Sometimes it is a thing called the Mode switch too.

So, it is nearly always my professional opinion that one should always get a "Quote" from the manufacturers recommended service center, Aiwa, in your case, please contact a local or head office and ask for a referral to an Authorised service center. I cannot stress how important that last point is. It is even worth the cost of shipping. You see an authorised service agent, will have trained staff, trained on their brand, also they have first hand access to parts, original parts. This will actually save you money and ensure you can actually get it back fixed. Of course asking for a "Quote" also gives on the option of repair or replace. Often my clients,do not go through with repair, unless it is moderate, but in some of the more costly jobs they see it, as do i, that a replacement, with a warranty, is a better option. As an aside here, one could then tear the TV down, and sell the Known Good bits.

Aiwa HV-MX1: tape won't eject from VCR and it switches off.

Turn over the VCR. Unscrew the base. You will see the 3 belts. Turn the rightmost belt clockwise or anticlockwise (don't remember) but you will see the tape hold mechanism moving down. Once it is all the way down, you can eject the tape out.

You may need to replace one or all 3 belts. This is being caused by belts being loose.

hope this helps.

AIWA VCR model HV-MX1problem

with the unit unplugged take the case off and look on both sides of where the front of the tape would set, you will see two towers, one is a light and the other a receiver, check to see they are plugged in and not obstructed. Also there is a switch that the tape pushes when its all the way in which might be stuck, click it a couple times with your finger. This might help, there are other more complicated things which could cause this problem but mechanical problems are more likely.

Picture gets bad after playing a while

Just the usual problem of needing the rubber belts replaced.
They last about 6 years normally so you are overdue.
Buy a kit of belts for your model from all kinds of sites on the net and install them yourself if you are handy with delicate mechanisms.
Hope ya fix it!

No Color

did u try cleaning the video head? heres how! unplugged the unit. open the cover. get a piece of clean white paper. put a little alcohol on it. place your finger on the paper and slowly touch the head but not too much force then gadually move the drum back and forth. donot move your finger up or down. just clean it horizontally by slowly moving the drum leaving your finger stationary. let it dry and test. if the problem persist see a doctor(technician), u have a problem with the color circuits. good luck!
