I have my PS3 hooked up to the tv through HDMI, but the tv wont recognize the hook up, i know i have to load the PS3 HDMI set up in the menu but its still not recognizing it when i try to set up, it only works through the yellow red and white cables when the tv is in game mode. When the PS3 tries looking for the active HDMI connection it goes back to default saying the connection was not available.
Same Issue, will not recognize, nor go to 1080p resolution

I would suggest hooking up via HDMI or via the composite cables. Then all you should have to do is turn on your ps3, change the input on your tv to whichever port shows the ps3 or new input device. If it doesn't for some reason recognize it as ps3, you can always go into more detail using the tv to rename that port as the PS3. Hope this is what you wanted to know!
for the stock connections 1) first hook up the video cables to the ps3 then match the 3 colors to the input on the back or side of your tv 2) make sure the system is off 3) hold the power button on the system for 2 beeps then take your finger off the power button if it goes back to red you held it to long. if so repeate step 2 and 3
for hdmi 1) hook up hdmi to the ps3 and to the hdmi on the side or back of the tv 2) steps 2 and 3 above
If your sure the PS3 is not the problem. You can try uplugging the television for about 5 minutes or so and plugging back in. With the PS3 hdmi hooked up to tv turn on tv. IF it still doesnot recognize then you either have a faulty main board on the television or a problem in the PS3.
You can reset the PS3 to make sure its not causing the problem. With the PS3 turned off, press and hold the power button until you hear 2 quick beeps then release and press power again. This will reset the PS3. You will not lose any stored information doing this!.
there is a possibility that there might have been a power surge sent over hdmi into the hdmi board on the tv. if on your model the hdmi board is seperate from the sine board then youll have a cheap replacement if not its gonna cost you roughly 300-400 is my guess.
You have to use the scart connector for on screen menu settings. Go to the video option and enable HDMI and/or match resolution output to your set.
You did not mention the model of the TV so here is another scenario,
Just because the TV is 1 year old doesn't mean that it is a 1080p capable, you could have set the HDMI resolution settings to 1080p and you will not get any picture if your set cannot process the information.
