Describe how to change printer to print only black from my computer. I am out of color ink and don't know how to change the settings from my computer.

Unfortunately, you need both ink cartridges to print with this printer.

you can print grayscale (black/white) by:

This for XP:

Start
Settings
Printers and faxes
Right click the printer icon an select printer preferences
Click the color tab and select grayscale

Windows 7:

Start
Devices and Printers
Right click the printer icon
Select printer preferences
Select features tab
Scroll down and add a dot to grayscale

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

Take out all cartridges, switch printer off and then on again and let printer see that there are no cartridges. Do this 5 times, it resets the cartridges. Then install refilled cartridges

Scanning slides into computer

From Lexmark's website:
To scan negatives, slides, and transparencies, you need to place the original between the light source and the sensor array so that the light passes through them before hitting the sensor. However, Lexmark scanners place the light source and the sensor array on the same side in order to catch the light as it reflects off the original. Accordingly, in order to scan originals of this type, you need a transparency adapter (also called a TPA or TPU), which is a back light that replaces the scanner cover.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
