Question about Sylvania 6520FDF 20" TV/DVD

2 Answers

Sylvania 6520fdf Came home and my wife says that she can't turn on tv and that it was making a noise so she unplugged it. When I plugged it in, all I heard was an extrememly high pitched whine. Will not turn on. Hmmmm. What to do? You betcha....take it apart. Disassembled and plugged in and the best I can tell is that the noise is coming from/near the high voltage transformer, possibly a cap near by. Is it worth taking to a repair person? --Mike

Hi this problem your having is the most common problem with tellys of this type youll find that its going to be either a transistor located near the transformer (fly back) or it could be the transformer but most of the time it is both that need replacing.
Most repair shops will replace both anyway as it is best to do this its not the kind of job a novice could do as it requires alot of soldering.
It is worth repairing and shouldnt cost to much as it is such a common fault so go ahead get it fixed let me know if you need further assistance ok

My flat screen Sylvania TV is flashing different colors what's wrong

Better late than never. The problem is that your TV is in the service mode. There are many ways this can happen. But, lets just get down to fixin this! With the original remote and the TV on. If the TV will not shut off, do this. Press the left cursor button on the remote, followed with pressing the right cursor. Power off the TV with remote, or press off button on TV.

Secondly, your TV will power on and off. But you have flashing colors. Do this. With the original remote and TV on. Press the up cursor button, on the remote, followed with pressing the down cursor. Power off TV with remote, or press off power of TV. Thanks for asking me, Matt of Martins TV Repair.

My sylvania LC195SLX 19" TV

Hi
You will have to open the back of the television to repair the television, and care must be taken by unplugging the power plug of the television.
A common problem for these is bad capacitors in the power supply, Remove the back from your Television and look at the power supply on the left hand side.

You will see roughly around 9 x capacitors that are bulged / domed shaped on top usually these are valued at 3300uf 10V any that have bulged or leaked a brown like substance should be changed.
This will cure the problem as they overheat being sat next to a heatsink that gets very hot!
Try and change them for the same 3300uf but a higher voltage.
Hope this help in solving the problem and do take care because it contain high voltages

SYLVANIA 6632LG its turns on everything works then when i turn it off and turn it back on it shows green light then red light. but if i unplug main board or inverter board and plug in in and turn power tv...

First, it does not make sense if you unplug the main board from the power supply and the TV comes on, please verify which connectors that you unplug. I would unplug the inverter board power connector to see if the 24vdc and 12vdc will work porperly first.

Sylvania lc420ss8 lcd turned off wont turn back on

Simply unplug the set, let it sit for a minute or so, then plug it back in and turn it on. I had a similar problem with the same TV and it is working fine now.

Hi! Simple question; answer hard to find. Does a Sylvania 6520FDF (20" color TV/DVD, purchased new in late 2006 or early 2007) need a digital converter box? Thanks for any assistance. Bruce

BRUCETYRE::
unless the information that comes with the tv says it is digital ready, NO!! and you will need a converter box.The reason is that for almost two years before the conversion, the /tv people knew what was going to happen and they were getting rid of the 'old' stock. The TV must say it is digital ready.
p.s. I looked it up for you...SORRY!!
"" The manufacturer has informed us that this model has been discontinued. However, it might still be available for sale.""
p.s.s. Now I know for sure that it is not digital ready...get the converter box.
