I have a 2003 honda element and changed the battery but do not have a code to put in to get my radio to work.how do i get the code and how do you put it in.Thanks

1. First, you need make sure your stereo is off, then hold down the 1st & 6th preset buttons for the radio while turning the stereo back on.
2. A batch of 8 numbers (your stereo's serial code) will appear for about 20 seconds. Write them down.
3. Contact your local honda dealer and let them know you need the 5-digit code to unlock your stereo and then give them the 8-digit serial code you got from the 2nd step. They will give you the 5-digit code that you can then enter into the stereo by again turning on the stereo and pushing the according preset buttons.
4. The stereo will give you 10 tries before it locks you out as a saftey feature and then you will have to wait an hour or disconnect the battery and try again. Hopefully you can enter the code in fewer than 10 tries anyway.

The radio display says off. It started this when I put in a new battery. It has locked me out because I do not have a code.

The only way to get the code is to contact Mitsubishi and give them the vin number/title number/ and I think the serial number on the stereo and they can give you the reboot code and procedure for getting it to work again. You need to explain to them that this occurred when you changed the battery and obviously the internal battery of the stereo did not retain the code. It is a theft prevention tactic that works well in deterring thieves but it's a pain int the B___ T when you have to, as the consumer, get it reset. Good luck and hope i helped!

My 2004 cavalier stereo is locked.i put a

That's the anti theft lock... It's not a system that comes with every car radio, but i've saw a few of those on cavaliers and sunfires, and a few civics, and i think a couple others have some too, but i've only personnally seen and worked with the ones i mentioned. In any case, unfortunetly even if i know how they work, there is no easy way to get them unlocked and working again. You need the special code for that specific radio, and to get it you don't have the choice to go to you GM dealer and ask them to do it. You need their special machines to get the codes and get the radio unlocked, there is no other way other than changing it for an aftermarket radio again like before. So if you really want to get the OEM radio going again, go with the car to your GM dealer to prove to them it's not stolen and they will get the codes from the GM support center with their dealer code and will unlock your radio, but of course they will charge for it, dealers never give any gifts to anyone.:p So ask them how much they charge for the service, cause in some cases, buying an aftermarket radio will cost less.

I have a 2002 Chevy Impala, i took out the battery to change it and the stereo is locked up now. The stereo won't even turn on. how do i unlock it?

It should be in your manuel, you can go back to the dealer and have them help you get it working again since they are always disconnecting battery's but call first. If there going to charge you a crazy amount, log on to www.radio-code.com. There is a fee but it's much less then then dealer. Oh and if there was no code programed the default is 0000. Good luck and hope this helps.

Car stereo locked after batterie change

Contact a subaru dealer for assistance and if they need s/n off the stereo, then remove it yourself and save the diagnostics fee. If they want to charge for the code, search the web for free anti-theft code information or use radio-code.com
