    Hi, and thank's in pointing me in the right direction. As soon as you said " light"
    I thought of the one below the glass top, well, I took if off and found that the whole slide got knocked off the track during transport.Trouble code gone, just have some feeding problems now but nothing major.

    hi ive been asking round for you about the error code your having i found out that the E-1 error code relates to aa fuse that is associated with the light but the rest of the code ive been told is going to be with a short circuit on the board more than likely to do with the light problem.
    This isnt a repair you can do yourself as you would need to be able to use multimeter and follow schematic diagrammes so you can take readings at various test points on the board its not going to be an expensive repair more than likely just bad solder joint or dry solder joint should just need resoldering let me know if you need further assistance ok

First Character - System

The first character identifies identifies the system related to the trouble code.

  • P = Powertrain
  • B = Body
  • C = Chassis
  • U = Undefined
Second Digit - Code Type

The second digit identifies whether the code is a generic code (same on all OBD-II equpped vehicles), or a manufacturer specific code.

  • 0 = Generic (this is the digit zero -- not the letter "O")
  • 1 = Enhanced (manufacturer specific)
Third Digit - Sub-System

The third digit denotes the type of sub-system that pertains to the code

  • 1 = Emission Management (Fuel or Air)
  • 2 = Injector Circuit (Fuel or Air)
  • 3 = Ignition or Misfire
  • 4 = Emission Control
  • 5 = Vehicle Speed & Idle Control
  • 6 = Computer & Output Circuit
  • 7 = Transmission
  • 8 = Transmission
  • 9 = SAE Reserved
  • 0 = SAE Reserved

My dell d505 cdrom won't work looked on device manager it says the fault is a code41

The meaning of the above error code is Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device, pls follow the steps in the below link for code 41.

Reset method :
* Entering the simulation mode

1) Clear key ON - Exposure mode select key ON - Clear key ON - Exposure mode select key ON
(The machine is ready for entry of the main code of simulation.)
2) Main code input by 10-key ? Start key ON
3) Sub code input by 10-key ? Start key ON
The machine enters the selected simulation mode.
Press the start key to start the operation of the selected simulation.
Main Code =(14 Used to cancel the self diag other than U2 trouble.)
Sub code = 0


* Canceling the simulation and returning to the normal mode
1) Press the clear key.

E41 =Control board thinks the door switch is open.
1. Remove the door lock assembly and
measure the resistance of the PTC.
Shorted or open. Defective door lock assembly.
Around 1500Ohms. Defective control board

This resets the code
Sim 16 sub 0 Used to cancel the self diag "U2" trouble. Cancel Trouble Error
SIMULATIONS
1. Entering the simulation mode
Enter the copy mode and perform the following procedures.
[P] [*] [C] [*] [Main code] [START] [Sub code] [START]
2. Switching the simulation mode
Press [USER SETTING] to return to the code entry screen.
3. Canceling the simulation mode
Press CA key to cancel the simulation mode.
You may need to have a tech look at this.
