Hello, thank you for taking the time to assist me. My parents have a Whirlpool Microwave/oven combo unit. We are trying to locate the exact model number of the unit to see if we can order a new transformer for the Microwave. The model number on the door reads RM288PX803 and the serial number is XE3681197. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya: normaly when this problem occurs there may be 2 problems that need to be looked at the first one is the mengatron this is the part that converts the electrical power produced to thermal power when these go bad it will not let the machine warm up and some times it can produce a error code (but not always ) Should look like this pict below
And next is the power inverter (capacitor) this is part of the electrical system that converst the electrical power to the usable power the microwave needs to operate correctly
So check these out first and then if needed i can assist you in checking out more parts ok? Best regards Michael
Member Discussion on Whirlpool GMC305PRS01 Microwave Oven
Whirlpool Wall oven/microwave combo unit Door message Does anyone know where the 15 amp fuse is? I replaced the 20amp fuse and it worked for a minute or two and then I opened the door and I blew my circuit breaker. I reset my circuit breaker, replaced the 20 amp fuse and now all I get is the Door message. I also noticed that it fused the outside switch on the right side of the door so I had to open the switch up and un-fuse it. This is for a whirlpool GMC305PRS01 Wall Oven/microwave combo unit.
Also if anyone could tell me the correct position the wire is supposed to be hooked up on the switches? I had someone help me take the switch out and they unhooked the wires and now we aren't sure how they are supposed to be hooked up. My light on the microwave doesn't work either. Is it possible the bulb blew when the fuse blew?
Hey-- You've spent a bunch of time on this already, so let's figure it out. The first step is to check power connections. L1, L2 , Neutral for proper location and tight connections. Should have 120v and 220v checked at bus block. If these check out, then this new unit should be under warranty and qualify for service. Not unheard of bad board or loose wire on a new unit. Let a tech sort it out on site. Let me know if this info helps- have more if needed- Thanks- Ed
i have seen this a few times. the m/w portion has seperate fuses and sometimes the cartridge fuse can be blown. it is located inside the top above oven. hard to get to without pulling the unit and getting the top off of unit. others have had a failure in the microwave control board.
You said, , 22 years ago you built the house you are currently living in.
The above oven/microwave oven was built in. You are interested in
replacing this unit with a new unit but it must be the same size. ? by the way i You would be happy with a double oven versus the
microwave/oven duo. You have measured across the front of the unit and
it only measures 26" across. Any assistance you could give us would be
I can help you! The front is 26 inches. And how high is it from the top to bottom? Also when I sell a wall oven I always send out the installer to check the hole or cutout size. Most of the time no wall oven fits with out at least one cut! Do you have any room to cut a little on all sides? What is your model number now. And what color do you want now?? I will send you some GE wall oven models and sizes so you can check your self if it will fit. usually they have to cut at least one side to fit it in the old hole!
