Upgrade My motherboard is apparently toast. This is what I currently have. Since they no longer make these, what upgrade do you recommend that allows me to use the same components? http://www.eprom.com/home/VIA/pe11l.html

You can buy intel 915 , mother board which supports the pentium 4 processor also and it will support other components of ur pc like hard disks, ram , mouse, keyboard , monitor, rom ,writer, smps ,if there is graphics card it will support that also ....

if you want to here my one good suggestion means u can when you really like to upgrade ... you just upgrade your processor also to core 2 duo.... this makes lots of difference to the speed ...

i will explain this core 2 duo technology once to u then it will be clear 4 u...
in core to duo physically there will be only one processors but it will assume as 2 processors while processing so this makes to boost the performance ,speed everything than any other previous processors....

for core 2 duo you must take some intel 965 mother board... there will not be much price difference if you take this processor and it s motherboard also....

How can I buy AM2 cpu board to modernysed motherboard K8 upgrade NF3?

You don't Socket 754 and 939 are dead ends with no upgrades. Most AM2+ CPU'S will work on on current AM3+ motherboards as long as they support DDR3, but anything AM2 or below is no longer supported.

As long as it is an ATX compatible power supply increasing the available wattage is not an issue, only meeting MIMIMUM power requirements
You can go to a 500, or even a 750 as long as it has the correct motherboard connections

Can a GA7-VAX motherboard support a flat panel montior and firewire? Can I just add the two cards? What about broadband? Or do I need to upgrade the motherboard and CPU to allow functionality? Please...

Socket A motherboards aren't going to support any real impressive processors. I'd recommend upgrading anyway, but yes, you can just add a firewire card. I like Zonet, they are affordable reference boards. You can use a flat panel monitor either with a analog adapter, a monitor that actually has an analog input (Most acer displays currently available either have the option, or only support analog.)

Excuseme,I don't speak english, but I need the audio driver for motherboard ASUS P4GE-MX for windows 7 32bit. You can answer me in this address e-mail: jose_a85@hotmail.com thanks

Have you checked with ASUS TechSupport? That is a very old System Board and most likley does not support Windows 7 and Asus most likley has no plans to release any. I recommend buying a newer model of system board, which will require newer CPU, RAM and video card to successfully implement Windows 7 and find drivers more easily.

Check this Asus forum post with similar question:

http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20081208025209781&board_id=1&model=P4GE-MX&page=1&SLanguage=en-us

Also not sure if you tried running the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor before you upgraded.

http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

it most likely would have advised against installing Windows 7 on the current system and recommended what you would need to upgrade first.

Good Luck!

Upgrading PC

Backstreet,

Dependending on your budget for your upgrade project you can implement some or all of the following to upgrade your PC.

First thing I would do is to upgrade your Videocard to one of the new PCIe offerings. ATI would be your preffered vendor as your Onboard video is ATI and this will limit any possibilities of driver conflict.

Next I would upgrade the RAM in the system you currently have 1GB which is sufficient for MOST games currently on the market but there are games in developement that can put some extra ram to good use. Your current MAX for this board is 2Gb with a 1Gb module in each DIMM slot.

CPU you can check with Intel and see what other duocores are available that might improve your speed.

Get a pair of SATA WD digital raptor drive (Fastest you can find) and set them up in a RAID array and install your Operating system on it. this is going to allow your computer to access the data at twice the speed as a non RAIDed drive

then I would consider a high end Audio card (My preferred one is the creative Xfi)

Hope this helps,
Good Luck
Dave

Would Pentium D 930 work on this motherbaord?

Yes, you can do the upgrade. About how worthy it is, it depends on your daily application. If you're using application that can utilize the upgrade than it surely worth. But if you feel like your current processor has more than enough power, your best bet is not to upgrade.

Your current motherboard is an mATX form factor. I recommend staying with that form factor for your new motherboard if staying with your current case. When upgrading to the new board you choose don't forget that you may need to upgrade the power supply unit also. You should upgrade to either a socket AM2+ board with dual core amd cpu or socket 775 board with Intel Duo Core2 cpu.
