Question about Jenn-Air JCD2295HES Side by Side Refrigerator

2 Answers

I need to replace a cracked water tank on a 3 year old Jenn-Air JCD2296HES side-by-side refrigerator and I can't see where the longer tube goes. The replacement tank came with 2 plastic valves. Can I snip the plastic tubing and use the valves instead of trying to thread the tubing all the way to where I can't see the other end?

Thanks. I think the first tank froze and cracked because one of the kids left the freezer open overnight. The Maytag guys wanted to charge $220 to do the job and the part only cost 50 bucks or so. I was thinking that snipping the tubing was too easy, but thanks for the advice.

The replacement comes with unions. Cut your tank out and splice the new one in. Make sure you find out why the original one cracked!

Ice maker not making ice

There is a tub that goes through the back of the freezer wall into the ice maker. Sometimes this tube will freeze shut and needs to be thawed out.

The water fill tube will freeze shut from low water pressure. Ether from a bad water valve or low pressure to the refrigerator itself.

Pull the refrigerator out and remove the tube from the back wall to check it
Good luck.......

I just fixed the same problem on a Maytag icemaker.... the aluminum ice tray had corroded (in 5 years!) so bad it had cracked the teflon coating. I took the icemaker out ( 3 screws, 1 electrical connector) and the thing would leak water sitting on the counter.

The ice maker in my Jenn Air refrigerator stopped working.

Check that there wasn't a clog in the line after replacing the filter. Make sure you get water going to the solenoid, if so, it may either be a clog in the solenoid or a fluke that it's no longer working.

Frozen water formed in the freezer

Your drain tube is plugged. The ice is formed in the bottom because when your freezer goes into a defrost cycle the tube is plugged so there is nowhere for the water to drain so it overflows and leaks into the bottom of the freezer. I know you have defrosted it but it takes longer to defrost the tube than just the ice on the bottom. You can call a service tech to take care of this or just unplug the refer. for 24 hours. This will fix your problem. I do this all the time and it always fixes it.

Jenn air side by side refrigerator ice maker not working

On mine the water inlet feed tube would freeze solid. Removing the ice tray and using a hair dryer to completely thaw the tube would get it working for another month or so. My frig had a solid rubber inlet tube. I noticed at the appliance store that newer models had an inlet tube that was split on top. I got one of these from a local appliance parts store, and it fixed the problem. The tube replacement it easy. Get to the back of the frig. Turn off the water supply. Carefully pry the white plastic piece out ( located on the upper right side when facing the back of the frig. ) of the frig. When you have the new one in hand it will be clear what you are going to do. Pull out the old remove the water line. Attach the line to the new tube and insert it. Turn on water, check for leaks, and you should be ok. This repair is only effective if you have an inlet tube that freezes up. There can be many other malfunctions that stop ice makers from working. This was my problem. Replaced the tube 3 years ago and ice maker has worked fine since the replacement.

Jenn Air JCD2389 fridge not cold on fridge side

You have plugged the defrost drain line. This is where the water goes to in the bottom of your freezer when it goes through the defrost (removal of ice from the freezer coil) cycle. It sounds like that hole is plugged and now the water/ice has now frozen in the vent that lets air circulate down into your refrigerator compartment. What I usually do in this case is to unplug the refrigerator, empty out the freezer compartment. Usually I also end up either pulling off the back panel or the bottom panel (in the freezer compartment) Looking for that defrost drain hole and thawing it out with a heat gun (be careful of melting plastic) or actually I use a hair dryer. I can sometimes do this also by pouring small amounts of HOT tap water onto it and then sopping/absorbing it away with a sponge or dishcloth. I repeat this until I get the water to go down the drain tube.

Try it and let me know!

Jenn Air 48" Built In Not Cooling

We just had a repairman out for the same exact problem. What he discovered ours was is that the lights intermittently stay on with the door closed. Test yours like this. With the door open, push the switch that switches it off and on off and on several times. Chances are you'll see that even with the switch depressed the lights are on. If that's the case he says it's one of the relay boards. There are four and the repairman will need to check to see which it is. Hope this helps. If this is the case for a temporary fix you can open the freezer door slowly close the fridge door while peeking through the crack to make certain the light is off.
