This might not be the solution you're looking for, but aside from the obvious, "Then get a new CD player," :) if you have something in there that you need to get out, every computer CD player has a very tiny hole somewhere on the front. If you straighten out a paper clip you should be able to manually open the CD tray by sticking the paper clip in that tiny hole and giving it a little "push" until the tray pops out enough to where you can just pull it the rest of the way out with your hand and salvage the CD.

Either way, good luck!

:)

The CD tray on my Tascam CD-A500 CD/Cassette combo will not open.

I understand that your CD tray on your Tascam CD-A500 CD/Cassette combo will not open. Here are some possible reasons why this might be happening and what you can do to fix it:
  • The CD tray may be stuck. If this is the case, you can try to gently pry it open with a flathead screwdriver. Be careful not to damage the tray or the unit.
  • The CD tray motor may be broken. If this is the case, you will need to replace the motor. This is a relatively simple repair that can be done by most people.
  • The CD tray sensor may be faulty. If this is the case, you will need to replace the sensor. This is a more difficult repair that should be done by a qualified technician.
If you have tried all of the above and the CD tray still will not open, you may need to contact Tascam customer support for further assistance.
Here are some additional tips to help prevent your CD tray from becoming stuck in the future:
  • Do not force the CD tray to open or close.
  • Be careful not to drop or damage the unit.
  • Keep the unit clean and free of dust and dirt.
  • If you are not going to use the unit for an extended period of time, unplug it from the power outlet.
I hope this helps!

How do i open the disc tray on my laptop

Presuming you are talking about a CD-ROM drive, you should first check your manual for information on operating the drive. There are many ways drive trays may be opened. Sometimes there is a button on the laptop that has the standard symbol for CD eject on it that will open the cd tray. Sometimes, there is a small button on the cd-tray itself that when depressed will cause the tray to open after a small delay. This all presumes that you don't have a tray-less
CD drive, that is just a slot on the side of your laptop. If the CD tray is stuck, because of some problem, look for a small hole on the face of the CD tray. Take a straightened out paper clip and push it gently STRAIGHT into the hole until you feel it stop against a bar. Push just a little harder, and the tray should pop open. This latter procedure should only be used when all other methods have failed to open the CD tray.

Cd tray wont open

CD/DVD Drive Tray problems
There are two ways to open the CD/DVD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD/DVD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drive tray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive tray pops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CD/DVD disc.
If you still having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and needs replacing.

CD DOOR WON'T OPEN

Just below the CD/DVD tray there is a tiny hole. Insert a straighten paper clip in this hole and gently push the paper clip until the CD/DVD tray pops out. You can now pull the tray out until it is in the fully opened position to remove the disc.
Try pushing the eject button to see if the tray closes, then push the eject button to see if the tray opens.
If this foes not work then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and it needs to be replaced.

I have a CDX-602 CD Player. I was on a gig the other night I placed a cd in the tray. I pressed the button to close the tray and a cord was wedged so that the tray would not close. Naturally the tray...

The gears have probably come out of sync, meaning the tray is riding on the limit switch. You need to remove the deck, dismantle and re-sync the drawer mech. Check the limit switch isnt bent, it's quite flimsy
