Could be dirty heads if you have a dry head cleaner tape try it (Maxell and RCA make ok tapes to try for ~:30-1min) ALSO:
There is a delay in the time you adjust the tracking and
the results being visable on the screen on this unit,
I suspect the tracking is adjusted off center. It takes some getting used to the way this deck's tracking adjustment works as the VHS video is upconverted to be captured onto the dvd and that is what you see, the upconverted video, fed out to your TV, analog or digital, this unit upconverts everthing to digital even analog channels, there needs to be a noise/blue screen off feature in the menu like my old hitachi VHS deck and my JVC ~$60 deck has now. On analog TV or old tapes it comes in handy for adjusting the tracking/antenna.

It sounds like it is set to a TV station and since all the analogue stations have now gone you will only get static. Without a remote you wan't be able to switch it. I suggest you either shop around for a replacement (try Curry's partmaster) or use a universal one.

VHS-C tape jumpy when playing back

My apologies, I overlooked the "-C" in your post.

This problem is due to a type ofcopy protection built into vcr's.

"Macrovision" copy-protection is merely a weakening of a particular part of the signal that makes up the picture and was primarily intended to prevent people from copying videotapes. I imagine almost everyone's seen it but probably didn't know what they were seeing: the resulting picture is a little jittery and is in black-and-white or alternates between black-and-white and color. The reason you're seeing a blue screen is because modern televisions, in the absence of a signal or a weak signal, will just show a blue screen instead of snow or a very poor picture. As mentioned above, you can get around Macrovision by inserting into your connections a signal amplifier that specifically amplifies the portion of the signal that Macrovision diminishes.

The heads are dirty or misalligned. Try running a cleaning tape through it. If that fails, it needs to be serviced.

Vcr help

Hi,
This problem is certainly dirty or worn video heads, most likely just dirty. You could try cleaning with a tape head cleaner (wet type) If this doesn't work, contact me again, and I'll email you detailed instructions for cleaning.

one way is to connect an antenna to INPUT of VHS, place a tape, press play, STOP and switch VCR\TV switch to TV. u should be able to change the channels from the VHS. If that don't work, u may have switch problems.
If this works, tell the boss..........FixYa.com
P.S. The 'blue screen' means that you don't have a signal to the antenna inpur\TV protion of VHS.
