Question about Equator EZ 1500 Front Load Washer / Dryer

2 Answers

Burns clothes! When my Equator drum is spinning during the drying cycle, it becomes very loud, and then I started noticing little black dots in a pattern on some of my clothes and linens. I realized they matched the dots on the inside lining of the washer drum. At first I thought they were dye stains, but later realized they were burnt spots! (Ruined a couple of my expensive sheets). So now I just use the Washer cycle and try not to use too hot a water on a load, and do not use the dryer at all. This necessitates me stringing wet clothes all over the Condo to air dry. Please tell me what to do to get this problem corrected. It just developed after using the washer/dryer unit for close to 2 years! I tried finding an Equator dealer to answer the problem, and there doesn't seem to be any! (Strange). Thanks, Jacqueline Schroller

I couldn't understand your English(?) and I still do not know what is wrong with my machine! You will have to give me more information than what you sent. For instance, WHERE is the CONTROL BOARD located?
and WHO in the Dallas area works on these things????
    Thanks,
    Jackie

Is there anyone out there that can tell me what I need to tell a repairman about fixing my dryer problem on my Equator washer/dryer? And also, who in the Dallas area works on these machines? When I previously called Equator Co. in Houston, I was given 3 names of repairmen (barely discernible in broken English), and one of these was over a hundred miles away (East Texas), one was not reachable, and one came but did not decipher the problem. HELP!!!!!!!

  • Quinilla Feb 08, 2008

I called the Houston number once earlier, and could hardly understand the person who answered (Indian ?)....and all they did was refer me to the 3 (who didn't pan out) service people in the Dallas area who work on their machines. I really didn't get much help out of them at all. That is why I am sending these messages out. Any other suggestions?

    Sweet Rascal,
Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your information!! This is more than I have been getting from anyone, more specific. Now if I can find anyone who works on these, I will know what to tell them. Finding someone in the Dallas area is another problem! Equator does not seem to help in that area....they just sell the machines and don't worry too much about the rest, apparently! I am a girl (so not electronically inclined). I will need to fina a repairman somehow.
Thanks again for all your information!!

Hello sir

your dryer control is the cuplrit.

it may be malfunctioning due to follwing probelms

1>> either it is failing to sense the temprature properly.

solution>if so you will have to repair the temprature sensing unit inside the machine

2>>even if temp is sensed correctly it is not able to controll the heat

solution> if this is the case then it is a serious problem. and will cost you more too. you will have to reapir the whole circuit board which conrtolls the heat inside the dryer.

so if u r handy with repairing electronics you can open the machine and see if you r able to repair it.

else you will have to call a tech.

its not necessary to call a tech of that same company. any tech with basic knowledge can solve this.

so approach any tech who repairs these machines

    thank you..

dont forget to rate the solutions..

    good luck sir,

My kenmore 417 wahser making too much noise, it looks like the inner tub hitting the outer plastic housing. How can I fix it?

Have you tried moving the clothes around in the drum to balance the drum BEFORE you was them? If that works, you have solved the problem! Most people forget that when cloth gets wet it gets heavy so leaving the clothes unevenly placed in the drum dry will make a real problem when they get wet!

During the spin cycle the washing machine becomes VERY noisy, sounds like its off-balance, but happens EVERY time, even with very small loads. The whole unit doesn't move when it happens, just extremely...

During the spin cycle the drum moves at a higher RPM and so the counter weight of the clothes within can make the drum rotate eccentric or out of sync.
So check if the belt is loose on the motor, checck if the spindle is tight with friction or the drum assembly suspension is out of alignment.
You must check the reason with the following points to confirm the drum spinning making noise. check point of noise , is this on hitting the sides , or from the motor, any foreign objects or the drum spindle. But you are the judge with a first view. Use good lighting to look out and confirm the fault.

Loud banging noise during rinse

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the rinse or spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary. This will solve your problem.

Problems Drying Clothes

That's the way it works, kinda stupid, it would be good if it did that at first to loosen up clothes in case they're stuck to the drum but then move like a traditional dryer but that's just the way it is. BTW, here's a website with parts for it in case you need them. I never used them but just found them, I was lucky I never had any problems with my equator until now but I kinda can live with it (during rinse cycles it pumps water out but then when it does the short spins it does not, so rinsing is not as effective sinse it leaves a lot of dirty water in and then puts fresh water in and does it again, it does pump the water out during the final spin cycle though). Anyways, good luck. I bought mine in 2001 or 2002 and never had any problems except for the one I mentioned.

throw a clean pair of old sneakers in the dryer with the clothes. this should not allow the clothes to stay in one place during the entire dry cycle
