Question about Lexmark Wheelwriter 3 Typewriter

IBM Easystrike Cartridges

I am having an issue with the IBM Easystrike black #1380999 cartridge breaking after a few typed words. The issue is is that the black (ink) band keeps breaking after a few typed words!!! So then I put a piece of tape on the advance ribbon and the black(ink) band and now it works. My issue is is that I broke two of them before I got it to work correctly. Any way to fix the broken ones???
Any info would be great.

The ribbon cartridges can be pried apart they are pressed together, getting it apart is easier than putting back together.
Next time you have to install a ribbon advance it by hand for a foot or so as old ribbons tend to stick to themselves.

Are the ink cartridges installed in the correct colour order?
Have you printed a test page through the printer's own control panel? What was the result?
Open a new document, using the default settings. Key in some test text. Try printing. What is printed?

After changing the ink cartridge it gives me the message, the type of print head is incorrect...Canon MP830....I installed it over and over again, same result with several other cartridges


Hello.
This can happen with certain types of compatible cartridges. the large black is usually the issue. Try unplugging the printer from the power for 5 mins. Also Try replacing the large black with a different brand, compatible cartridges are great for saving money but can cause some issues with the electronics. I recommend G & G Brand compatibles. they have been rated very well in PC Magazines and give no issues with recognition.

I could only get 1/2 of every letter. It is a IBM select wheelwriter. How to fix? It uses a IBM ribbon #1380999


You probably have an IBM Wheelwriter. Press down firmly on both ends of the platen (black roll) it should snap into place.

Black print is faded on my HP deskjet 6980 printer. Whenever I print a word document it will have sporadic fading. It will be fine in one place then all faded in another. I've cleaned the cartridges and...


Hi,

Here are some steps you can check to resolve your issue.

Check if the ink cartridges are low, specially the color black since if the black is empty, you are using the colored cartridges to print black. If the cartridges are newly replaced check the cartridges by reseating it. Try to consider changing the print quality high but doing so will use more ink. If still the same try to clean your printer heads.

Here are the instruction for cleaning your printer.

Open the printer tool box. (open a word, then click on file then print, choose properties, then services)
click on clean the print cartridges, then clean. Do test printing as well to check if the color is correct. If still the same calibrate the color which can be found in the same menu.

Wheelwriter 35 cutting off bottom of letters


First thin to do is to be sure the platen (rubber roll) is fully seated in the T/W side frames. press firmly on both ends of the platen.

My ribbon broke, I don' t know how to fix it.


The ribbon has 2 little (feet) on the rear of the cartridge they hook into the ribbon deck and it just rocks into place. You can get a picture and instructions @ lexmark .com klick your way to publications. Be sure to advance the ribbon by hand a foot or so to be sure it isn't sticking to itself.

Faint printing on checks


To my knowledge the 999 ribbon is the best avaivable. Try these things. put a little light (WD40 works well) oil on the back side of the print solenoid, then perss code and "Q" the display will show 1,2 or 3 set it at 3 and then try code "B" for bold print. These should help.

924 says that black ink cartridge not installed


Hmmm....that sounds to be an issue with the ink cartridges...

You might be using ink cartridges purchased other than Dell or Staples...since these are the two who sell Dell Ink.

If thats not true, then take out both the cartridges in the printer.

Lets isolate the issue

1. Try only Black cartridge on Color slot(right). If you get Install both ink cartridges error, then its an issue with the Black ink cartridges and if you get message that install Black ink cartridge then its an issue with the prrinter.

2. Now install only color cartridge on Black cartridges slot(left), If you get color cartridge missing then its an issue with the Black cartridges which you are using and if you get install both ink cartridges then its an issue with the black slot on printer.

3. If issue found to be with Black ink cartridge then wipe the Nozzles(bottom) of the ink cartridge with lint free cotton cloth from back to front 5-6 times.

4. Also try replacing the ink cartridges purchased only from Dell or from Staples. Purchased from somewhere else or refilled might not work.

5. If issue found to be with printer, then i would suggest you to purchase new printer then.

Replaced Part No. 1337765 and 1380999, but there is still no ink coming out


It sounds like th4e plastic cap on the print solenoid plunger is broken. The part is avail. but a little tricky to replace.
