Because they are tweeters, and only 4 months old. take them back for warranty. Most manufacturers will give 6-12 months.

On my peavey pro 15 neo speakers i don't know which wire is for what. What is the black, red, blue and yellow wires for?

black and red will goto 1 speaker. and blue/yellow to the other. typically red and yellow are + and black and blue are -. the crossover board might tell you which is which where they solder to it. but i'm pretty sure the black/red goto woofer. try hooking up both to woofer and listen to it. 1 way is going to sound horribly wrong lol. that will mean you hooked up the tweeter leads to the woofer. but DO NOT HOOK UP WOOFER LEADS TO TWEETER. thats why i say to do it on woofer.

Tip

Choosing Bookshelf Speakers

If you are shopping for a quality pair of stereo speakers for music listening not only should you trust your ears but have a look at the individual components that makeup the speaker. The cabinet of the speaker should always be solid, knock on it with your knuckles and see how it resonates the sound. Preferable it will sound dead and solid; we want the drivers moving not the cabinet!

The tweeter: The tweeter is responsible for the upper range and should be made from a rigid yet light material that does not deform when moving quickly, aluminum, titanium and ceramic are excellent. Paper, silk, cloth and plastic are not good for replicating notes in this range.

The woofer, much like the tweeter the woofer must be made from a rigid light material. Yet the woofer reacts differently since it produces a lower frequency range. Paper aka pulp fiber and other fiber composites work very well, as does aluminum and to a lesser extent plastic.

Just the tweeter is playing and not the mid

It's a midrange component speaker. Possibly your midrange speaker is blown. Check your wiring.

You hear the tweeters i am assuming because the vehicle has tweeter component speakers that are separate from the midrange and low components.

Wharfedale

Hello georgesverme,

I'd recommend starting with the local importer of Wharfdale products to see if they have exact replacement tweeters for sale. Contact:
Bob Springston, Sound Import, LLC
Phone: (508) 422-9788
Email: sales@soundimport.com

If you are unable to get tweeters from them, see if they will recommend a replacement or at the very least, provide you with the specifications, including the impedance, crossover point, frequency response, and power handling capability. If they won't or can't provide the information, then you are on you own. You'll want a relatively high-quality product, most likely 8ohm (but could be 16), crossover between 5-8KHz, frequency response from crossover to infinity (or at least beyond the range of human hearing).

Then try www.partsexpress.com. They have a large selections of speaker building products and carry small tweeters like yours in several brands, price ranges, and quality levels. Vifa is excellent. Tang Band is good. Goldwood is acceptable for entry-level speakers.

Hope this helps.

JBL Driver Identification?

This tweeters are part of some home audio models made by JBL in the late 80's beginning of the 90's.
I have some of them around. Will have a look and come back.

Tweeters poked to death

I know this sounds silly, but I had the same problem. Your speakers have a little plastic bulb that has been pushed in, right?

If so, simply put your mouth up to the tweeter, seal with your lips and **** gently (seriously). The tweeter dome should pop back out and in to shape.

It worked for me.

Good luck.
