Question about HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I have a HP C6180/ Vista 32bit/
The paper will not load. It sounds like it is trying but it won't catch up the paper and I get a message to load paper face down in the Main Tray. Still it won't load the paper. I have had this problem in the past with printing checks with Quicken but I just put the setting on draft and it works fine.
It started when I got a fax yesterday and it was trying to print it off. It never would load the paper and now it won't load paper to print anything else either
I would appeciate your help.
I have a C5180, which has an access panel on the back. I removed that and started the print job. I could see the photo paper tray slide into place and the rollers try to load a sheet of paper. It was pretty obvious that the problem wasn't with the photo paper, but rather the 8.5x11 paper below. A sheet of regular paper was partially loaded on the rollers and it was preventing the photo paper from loading. So, fixing it was simply a matter of reloading the 8.5x11 paper.

First this to do is turn it off unplug, take paper tray out and remove paper and clean the tray, take the printer and put it on it's side (the side where the paper tray goes and see if you get any paper dust to come out. other wise blow air into that area you will see a roller on top need to clean that.

I had a very similar problem and what had happened with mine is that there is a very small narrow brush that I think is there to clean the paper right before the print goes down and as I looked closely at the printing module (I don't know what else to call it, it's the part with the cartriges that moves back and forth to print) that brush (it has a sticky backside and attaches somewhere underneath) was out of place. I think it was precluding the module from detecting the paper was there (I noticed a laser scan each time I would push the "ok" button on top). I pulled that brush thing out and it started working right away. I wasn't sure what the proper position of the brush is so I just threw it away. It's printing fine now.

4/23/09 I just did what the 2 solutions above recommended and my HP C7280 all-in-one is printing perfectly now. I took off the lid, the back (where paper jams are removed), basically anything I could remove, and spray blasted the insides, shook it lighltly on it's side, and that did it. Thank you very much!
