1. Make sure the printwheel is installed corectly
2. Make sure the ribbon and correction tape are installed correctly
3. Turn the machine off, wait 30 seconds. then turn it back on, if the same thing happens install another printwheel.
4. Turn the typewriter off, wait 30 seconds, turn it back on. If the same thing happens, call a repairman.

The ribbon drive motor might be n/g. I think 6 beeps is the ribbon motor located under the gear on the ribbon cartridge.

When I turn on my Wheelwriter 1500 it beeps 6 times and the lights flash and the keyboard is frozen. It does not let me type.

Many possibilities. Look on and under the PC board for debris especially metal, The next most likely is the keyboard.

Check in the area where the printwheel is installed for paper or other debris. If it does the same thing with the printwheel out then it is probably a printwheel sensor.

It sounds like the keyboard is bad. Check the two bflat connectors from the keyboard to the PC board, if they are connected ok a keyboard is in order.

try turning the machine off put a SMALL amount of oil on the large round rod running across the typewriter manually push the print head left and right a few times to see if it will loosen up. The problem is usually caused be drying oil you may consider having it serviced by a pro.
