I have the same problem. Very quiet microphone. The speaker is fine and changing the volume does not affect the level of the microphone. I have also tried muting and unmuting.

This is my 4th bluetooth (same make and model) in 2 years. It keeps getting replaced when the audio starts to go (free so I take it). I have temporarily resolved it by turning off the phone, then pair it again. But that has only been a temporary solution. Is it impossible to turn up the mic volume on these things?

I can't hear music through computer speakers. Speakers are functional. I can hear low volume music from turntable. What's up?

Have you selected a different setting in the audio control section of your computer? For example: wave out, instead of line in or vice versa. Is the audio control input set low?

It sound like a bad reostat in the volume control. if its under warranty send unit back to kenwood and have them replace the volume control, and possible speaker involvement.

Can barely hear anything of any audio but device manager says audio device working

Right click your volume icon in notification area and adjust volume settings in there. Try headphones and see if its still the same, in case its your actual speakers going bad.

Volume low on all four speakers, some static (amp or head unit problem)

I would check the amp first, especially if you have very low sound on the speakers. Before amps were made, bad output transistors would create the same effect.

Kenwood KDC-BT838U -- Low audio on incoming phone calls only.

Patrick -
I have the reverse problem.  Callers can hardly hear me. I saw a setting in the headunit that allows you to specify where the audio plays for incoming calls.  You can choose the Left Front Speaker, the Right Front Speaker or Both.  Check the manual and make sure its set to both.
