When you first turn the scanner on, the READY light will blink, indicating that the diagnostics are in progress. Observe the front panel Error LED (Red) closely. In a short time, the Error LED indicates the results of the offline diagnostics as explained below.
Ready LED(Green) is off and Error LED(Red) indicates 7, the error indication is"Face down light check failure".
Followings are the solution for the above problem:
1. CCFL is on? Yes. CCD error, Optical assembly is to be replaced. 2. CCFL is on? No. Inverter error. Lamp inverter circuit is to be replaced. 3. CCFL is on? Yes. Issue resolved. 4. If the CCFL is still off, then CCFL is to be replaced.

Description A printer motor error has occurred. This message might also appear if the ETB is missing or incorrectly installed. Ensure that the ETB is installed correctly. Action 1.Press the green <Tick Symbol>(Select) button to continue. 2.Turn the printer off, and then turn the printer on. 3.If the error message returns, turn the printer off. 4.Perform a cold reset. a.Turn the printer on. b.Watch the control panel. c.When the memory starts counting, press and hold the green <Tick Symbol> (Select) button. d.Continue holding the green <Tick Symbol> (Select) button until the Ready, Data, and Attention lights flash once, and then stay on steady. e.Release the check button when the Ready, Data, and Attention light are on steady. The control panel will display SELECT LANGUAGE. f.Press (Down Arrow) button once. The control panel will display COLD RESET. g.Press <Tick Symbol> (Select). The printer will perform a cold reset and then continue its power-on sequence. 5.If this message persists, contact an HP-authorized service or support provider.
if the machine needs toner you will be able to change paper size & reduction but the machine will not come to ready[green ready light lit]. so if the machine keeps running after you turn it on it needs toner. if you leave it on for lets say 15 min. does it give you an add toner light or an error code?
does the picture ever come up?...the processor on this set shuts down the set when there is a problem. then generates an error code log. a tech should be able to read these to help determine the problem
