i have bought jvc everio g series. model number gz-mg142. i cannot transfer any film onto my mac. can't open any of the files. is this thing compatible with mac and if it is how do i get the damn thing working. it's the 2nd camcorder i have tried as i had no luck with sony i bought. this says it's mac compatible.

- jvc gz-mg330au and a powerbook g4 mac (pre-intel) running os 10.4.11. Can download pictures off the camcorder with iphoto, but cannot download any of my videos!!!Please offer solutions? Anyone???
Apple suggested upgrading the OS and buying a $40 software that provides better capacity for photo/video management. However, if I do this than most of my other software and hardware won't work, because I run a small music studio and it takes the other hardware/software companies time to make their products compatible with the latest version of the mac os. - kirstinashe

- Having the same problem. I import video off the Everio G but am un-able to open the vieo with any software that comes with the Mac. Quiktime, Imovie. Nothing will open it. So I cannot make any movies or get the video off my camera and create and DVD's or anything.- gvaudSolution #1

Try renaming the .mod file to .mov
Quicktime still won't open it but vlc will, you can use ffmpeg to re-encode them.
I was told that my JVC everioGZ-MG334 would be fine for me also. I wish I still had my DV tape camcorder firewire connection and was all a breeze.

i got a download from that link for virtual pc which i can't open as i haven't bought it so don't have the serial number......
so i'm stuck in the same position as you with a camcorder i can't use but i guess buying Virtual PC for the mac is the way forward?
