49.4CF1 = gen firmware error- Common problem on LJ9000 series. most likely a corrupt file has been sent to print, How to Clear- switch printer OFF if the net card is not built into the formatter- then unscrew and remove - remove all network/USB points from printer and then cycle the power- leave the printer disconnected from network and allow to reach ready state( If the machine still shows error- read below) if the machine does clear and reach ready then the error is with a bad file in the Print Spooler Que and may still need to be cleared from the print que (on the PC). If the error does not clear then you may need to Reset the machine - to perform a cold reset. Switch power ON- Wait until Memory Check is Running( lots of asterisks on screen) whilst the mem check is running press and HOLD the green Tick button, Hold until all Three Heartbeat lights have come on together- let go of the tick button use the scroll buttons to navigate down to Cold Reset select and press tick cold reset is now performed- if this doesnt clear your issue then please contact your service Department and inform them that a new formatter may well be required-this repair can be completed using Belmonte Business Equipment.co.uk
Press the green button (with the "check" sign on it), then press the "down" arrow button four times.
The display should read "configure device".
Press the green button again.
Press the down arrow one time? until you see "printing".
Press the green button.
Scroll down to "copies"... it probably reads "3".
Set it back to "1" and then press the green arrow button.
First select the configure device menu by up & down arrow keys in display select them by pressing green button find no of copies in sub menu change this value to 1 & set them by pressing the green button.Your value set to no of copies to 1 & your problem will be 100% resolved.
Using the left and right arrow buttons on the printer select the main menu 'service' press the green tick button in the middle of the arrows and now you are in the service menu press the right arrow once and you should see 'cleaning mode', press the green tick once and your printer should clean itself. If you are still getting ghosting you might need a new toner or maybe a service.
Most likely to be the toner cartridge is it OK on other programs such as the web explorer? If not change the toner cartridge you can also print out the configuration page by pressing the green tick and then using the up and down arrows select information press green tick to enter then move to "Print Configuration" and select using the green tick. If the page comes out OK then the print cartridge if fine if not try changing it. Also there maybe in the driver you have under printing preferences negative mode make sure that is not checked.
Failing this reinstall the print driver from HP Online if this still doesn't work then change the data cable if still not working then I suggest that the printer formatter board is faulty.
I do hope this helps you and please rate me Thanks J
