Your printer works with the PGI-5BK and CLI-8BK/C/M/Y cartridges, that are in fact just ink-tanks, the printhead being apart of the tanks, so if the cartridges are not empty, it cannot be because of them. It doesnt matter if you replace the cartridge, the problem is in the printhead.

If the problem occured just a while ago, you should consider that NOT PRINTING a long time (30 days) with a printer can lead to ink drying out in the printhead, clogging the nozzles. So if cyan (blue) and yellow nozzles are clogged, just magenta (red) will spread out and there you have, redish pics!

OK, now it comes: If you have some tehnical skills, you can remove the cartridge and desassembly the printhead (where the cartridge are in) and do the following:

Put a paper-tissue on a small plate (like a coffee-cup plate), then put some boiling water in it, just 2~3mm of water over the tissue.
Put the printhead with the nozzles part downside on the tissue, in the hot water.
Let it stay there in the water 30 min.
Put the cartridges back on the printhead (without installing it in the printer), rap it in an other clean tissue, than shake it strongy as if you want to force ink to get out trough the nozzles. dont drop the tissue during that, ink can splash everywhere if nozzles free up!
Then clean gentle the nozzle part of the printhead on some clean sheets of tissue.
Get the cartridges again out of the printhead, install it in the printer, then install the cartridges again and run a few cleaning processes from the printers maintenance software.

It should work. If you dont have the tehnicall skills needed, Canon gotcha, or you can visit a local specialist to make all this for you, they usualy have better equipmens, as ultrasonic cleaners and special solvents that makes all this easyer.

Rate the solution if it helped you!

Thx.

My Canon Pro9000 MarkII prints photos with a red tint

You probably haven't calibrated your monitor to show the correct colours, so in whatever photo programme you're using, you're setting the red tones too high. Test this by first not calibrating your monitor, but turning down all the red tone until it looks washed out. Print this and see if it's better. If so, set your monitor to a cooler colour temperature. If the result is no better, check your print dialogue settings to make sure you are using an appropriate colour profile. And, for example, if you're using Photoshop, tick 'let Photoshop manage colours' in the advanced profile settings box. Hope this helps. I doubt there's anything wrong with the printer.

I have installed a new black and colour ink cartridge but it is only printing in black and blue- why is this?

Your printer head might be blook. For the reason all the colour of ink does not come out through the printer head nozzels. In this condition you should try to come out ink through ink nozzels. procedure
1. print a nozzel cheak. and see what colour does'nt come out.
2. Now open photoshop and take a a4 page and fill it with six colour and print it 5/6 time in a photo paper. If print does not improve call me again. I will give you second tecnique.
Thank you.

Failure to print from computer in colour

I have a similiar issue that just started happening recently - the printer shows FULL inks but the PC thinks it has empty inks. I tried the * #, 123 reset hardware failures, but that didnt help. Printer run self diagnostics says all is fine....

I am using USB connections - and this has been fine for years, until now. Maybe a microsoft patch issue?

Printing only orange and yellow

Hi Florian,

if the cartridges are full, but still not all colours appear, it could be a driver issue. Try uninstalling the printer, reboot and install it again. Even pull the cartridges out and back in, just to be sure. Preferably check for newer printer drivers on Canon´s website. Let me know how it ended up Flo, ok?

Epson 1400 won't print blacks

Hi

Many problems regarding Ink with Epson relate to using cheap ink consumables. I recommend you buy original Epson black ink catridge. I know its more expensive but you should see the black ink clear.

Be sure to run head alignment and clean printer option first with the current black ink then replace with the new original Epson ink catridge

Thanks

Andy

The black is printing dark redish brown

Dear friend, your Black Ink Cartridge is Empty thats why your printer is using the Colour Cartridge to produce the Black Colour. This is the reason you are having Dark Reddish Brown colour instead of Black.

Won't print with just black ink cartridge

When you print, in the printing window, click properties, then click advanced. Most times you can select to print using black cartridge only. Unfortunately you will need to replace to get the printer working. If you need further assistance let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

Does not print black

Most likely you have no black cartridge installed or it is empty causing your printer to use the colour cartridge for black. But if your colour cartridge has 1 colour which is less full than the others it causes black to become greenish or sometimes reddish depending on which colour is less. A new cartridge or a black cartridge will solve the problem.

Printing photos

its ok I solved it! I didn't realise that all the photo cartridge does is gloss over the colour picture produced by the colour cartridge. I simply had to replace the colour cartridge which had run out, so now its all working perfectly!!

Why is there 2 black ink cartridges in my Canon MP600 printer

On some printers, probably including yours, the black ink will be taken from the reserves in your colour cartridge unless you specifically tell it to do a black and white print on each document, regardless of whether it's printing black exclusively. I wouldn't worry, the black ink in it's own cartridge can also be used for colour photos etc with no detrimental effects.
