I have a Dell Latitude D610 and I'm having trouble with wireless

I tried the solution to the same problem that was posted a couple weeks ago but i don't know what to put in the "username" field... it's a new router (netgear) and when i called them, they seemed stumped and said i should update my wireless card software. if that's what i need to do, how to i do that?

I think you are asking how to log into your Netgear router? If so, the default user name is "admin" and password is "password". Please ensure that this is changed immediately, as this is widely known information and anyone can get into your router and change your settings if you don't secure it otherwise. I would be more than able to help you further as needed. Please reply with specific Netgear router model as you need further assistance.

Good Luck,

Jesse

Dell Latitude D610-Not detecting wireless networks.

Are you running the Dell Wireless Utility? Try stopping that service (go into Services, find the Dell program on the list, and Stop it, and then change the startup type to Manual) and start the Wireless Zero service (and change the startup type to Automatic).

When the Wireless Zero service is running, open your wireless networks list and see if you can see any networks (assuming there are some nearby to find). If you get a message that says something like "Wireless Zero is not configured to manage your network connections," go into the Advanced properties and put a check next to the box that says "Allow Wireless Zero to manage my wireless networks").

If you still can't see any wireless networks when there are some around, then maybe you do have a damaged antenna. It's probably not worth spending the money for parts and labor to have it repaired or replaced, especially if your computer is five years old.

D610 boot failure

Remove all drives, Memory and wireless cards, see if the indication changes. If no change, replace the motherboard. If they change, add memory back one module at a time, see if the system will post. If one does, then the other is bad.

Power for battery on DELL laptop Latitude D610 as posted FixYa

In the BIOS, does it show the battery and it's current state? As weird as it sounds, I've fixed an issue like this on a D600 by updating the BIOS to the most current level. Weird, but true.
