All indicator lights flashing no contol with remote

ir transmitter on the end is gone, common problem, you can test by seeing if it interferes with a portable fm radio, if it does it means that the ir is good, just hold the remote up to the fm radio, try diff. freqs.

Need the three digit code for vcr,RCA model VR617HF,for Dish network.

Hey there, Cheri Torres with DISH Network Customer Service here. I came across your post and wanted to see if I could help. We have a few different codes for each of our different models of remotes. You should be able to locate the model of your remote on the back of the remote at the top, usually a two to three digit number with a decimal point. I will list here for you the best codes for our more popular models of remotes and also the instructions for addressing the remote to your RCA VCR. I hope this info helps and if you have any further questions let me know! :)

Model of remotes RCA codes
3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 3.4 IR remotes - codes 1690, 1742, 1749, 1527, 1627, 1650, 1816.
5.0, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 IR remotes - codes 1615, 1749, 1690, 1742, 1627, 1650, 1666, 1854.
4.0 and 4.4 IR/UHF remotes - codes 1690, 1749, 1742, 1627, 1816, 1537, 1842.
6.0, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4 IR/UHF remotes - codes 1666, 1627, 1749, 1650, 1690, 1742, 1816.
20.0 IR and 21.0 IR/UHF remotes - codes 1816, 1703, 1719, 1720, 1749, 1765, 1518, 1528, 1539, 1541.

Instructions for addressing the remote to the VCR
  1. Press and hold the VCR mode button until all mode button back lights come on, then release.
  2. Use the number buttons to enter the device code corresponding to the equipment.
Note: The light will blink off after each digit is entered and then return to a steady light.
  3. Press the POUND (#) button.

If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times.

I cant switch to video input and my remote wont work i need help.

Dear FixYa customer,

You can verify the output of the remote by pointing it at your Camera phone. If you see a bright spot like a flash light then you know the IR beam is transmitting.

You will need the remote control "Input" button in order to get the "L"ine input on the VCR. What source are you trying to record from? There may be an alternative if the other device has RF output.

The original remote is no longer available, however, here is a link to a replacement that has the "Input " button.

Thank you

Remote IR not working?

If you think it'll help, replacing an IR receiver is very easy (if you know how to solder) and very cheap (they're like $2 at Radio shack). Just open up the unit and look for the IR reciever, it'll be in the front of the machine. Here's a picture of one:
Remove it by heating the connections with your iron, and replace it with a new one. Yay!

Panasonic PV-8400 Remote sensor not working?

This is indeed a faulty IR sensor. If it's just the sensor, swap with your good one to check. From memory they are plug in - a little device behing d the smoked translucent facia (display panel). I have come across this several times with Panasonic VCRs. Check whether the remote works at night time with all fluorescent lights in the room switched off. If so, the IR filter circuitry is faulty. Same solution - replace IR sensor on VCR.
