LG 42" Plasma Red Spots/Mist on moving Black images
I have red dots appearing all over the screen, but only over the black or darker images. The TV is 15 months old and this has just started happening in the last 2 weeks but is getting worse every day now. I have no extended warranty so can I sort this myself or or does it need LG or an expert? If this is a technical fault, and a very annoying one at that, then will LG be likely to contribute anything to the fix?

This problem (known as sparkles) can be cured by adjusting the ramp control on the Y-Sustain board. If this does not cure the dots then there is a software remedy for the control board which an LG repair centre could fix. Failing that a replacement board is required. The orbitor & whitewash are like screen savers to help to prevent a screen burn from a permanently displayed image.
what you can do is take off the back pannel and there is a cord on the top of the board that looks like a computer board, there are many boards in the TV but the one I am talking about is twords the bottom where the video jacks plug in to the TV. Ok once you have located the pannel there is a cord on the top kinda tword the right side, it is many wires inside a black covering. What you need to do is just simply unplug it and plug it back in, do this as many times to try to get it to work. If that doesn;t work you can replace the cord and if that doesn't work then the screen is out and would cost WAY too much to fix, you could buy you a new name brand TV.
The set has sound and no picture. If you the SSB could be the issue but the tiny red dots on a black screen will need the panle replaced also. There is a way troble shooting can be done to determine if you will need the SSB or the SSB and the panel.
Did you get this problem resoslved? I had the same issue a few months ago. I tech came by and took my TV to the shop, a few days later he said it was fixed as they needed to make some adjustments.....The TV has been fine up until a week or so ago and now the red dots have appeared again. Was wondering what happened to yours.
