I have a Telephoto AF Nikkor 85mm f/1.8D Autofocus Lens on Nikon D200 camera body, and I've been using it for a few months with no problems. I love the lens. But a week ago I was in the middle of photographing my friend's baby, and it just stopped taking pictures; the f-stop on the screen read ''fEE.'' I haven't been able to get it work since then. Is this a simple fix or will I have to take it into a repairman? I tried a different lens and that worked fine. So it's something wrong with the lens, I think. Thanks in advance!

You may want to check what the aperture ring is set at on your 85mm. Nikon SLRs for most purposes, require that the f-stop on the lenses be set at the minimum aperture number, ie f-16,22,32. This is so the camera has the full range of the aperture to control it properly. Most if not all lenses for Nikon have a small button, usually marked with orange, to lock the aperture ring at that setting

Does the nikon nikkor af 70-210mm telephoto lens fit on a nikon d3000?

Yes. The smaller sensor of the D3000 will make it the equivalent of about a 105-315mm lens on a 35mm film or full-frame digital camera. Also, the autofocus will not work with the D3000.

What digital nikon cam works autofocus in a nikkor micro AF 105mm f/2.8D?

This lens lacks the autofocus motor, so it will only autofocus on cameras with the motor. This lens will autofocus on every Nikon digital SLR except for the D40, D40x, D60, D3000, D3100, D5000, and D5100. It will autofocus with the D1 family, D2 family, D3 family, D50, D70, D70s, D80, D90, D100, D200, D300, D300s, and D700 (I hope I haven't left any out).

ON DISPLY, APERTURE SHOW fEE AND DONT SHOOT

In all but aperture priority mode and manual modes you must set this lens to it's minimum aperture setting (i.e. highest number) to allow the camera body to fully control the aperture for you.

You'll also get this problem when using certain Nikon bodies which rely solely on electronic communication of the lens settings to the camera body (e.g. Nikon F75) as they lack the ability to read the mechanical linkages on the rear of the lens.

Lens will not open up all the way

Is the maximum available aperture dependent on the focus distance? Many macro/micro lenses "dim" slightly as you focus in close.

See if you get 2.8 focused at infinity.

Trouble with auto focus nikon auto nikkor 60 mm f2.8D

Lock it at f/32. Autofocus lenses have a lock for smallest aperture (highest number) because that is wht the camera body expects. The lock won't engage at any other position.
