What battery do i need for roomba model 4210

Advanced Power System (APS) 3000 mAh NiMH Battery. You can buy directly from iRobot (Item Number: 17373) or on Amazon ($20 buck cheaper). Be sure and get the NMh battery and not NiCad . The old one is probably blue and the new one will be yellow. The new model will last almost twice as long. Please rate this answer by checking on the hands below.

IRobot rumba 4000 seems to run ok and then starts making a kinda hi pitched growling noise and slows way down. it is very clean(blown clean with air compressor)sensors are clear ,newly installed well...

It sounds like your Roomba's brush gears are not working. Run the robot without the dust bin to see if the brushes are turning. If they are not, the robot will need to be replaced. Contact iRobot CS for support at (877) 855-8593.

My rumba keeps going backwards before stopping and locking up

Mine was doing this too. I think the stair sensors might have been dirty. I used compressed air to blow out the entire front of it and it started acting normal again.
