Generic problem for all Printers

Printing takes a very long time (by 3 users)

posted by monks on Feb 08, 2008

HP Pavillion dv6602AU, Vista Home Premium, SP RC1, 2 GB RAM (667 MHz)
Canon LBP 2900 Laser printer
All drivers updated to the latest available on the website. (including HP)
Problem:
When I give a print command from any program (office, corel, notepad, outlook, firefox etc...) it takes a very long time to print. The printer status window shows it is spooling the document. This remains for about 2 minutes. The suddenly the spooling message is gone and the printout comes out of the printer almost instantly. This problem doesn't occur if I connect the printer to another computer running XP or Vista Ultimate, using the same cable. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, (even after manually removing the driver from System32 forlder), but the problem persists. Changing the cable or USB port doesn't help either. Please HELP!

Sorry, but this does not work. Now, instead of showing spooling, the printer status window shows "printing", but the print doesn't come out. It takes the same amount of time to print as before.
Even if I print more than 1 page, every page takes a long time. The only difference between the first print and subsequent prints is a few seconds less for 2nd print onwards.
I have the same problem.

In this case you can bypass the spooler by the following steps:

1. Right click the printer icon & left click the printer properties

2. Click the Advenced tab in the printer properties.

3. Select the option PRINT DIRECTLY TO THE PRINTER & UNCHECK THE OPTION SPOOL THE DOCUMENT.

4. Click apply and ok.

5. Try printing.
