Question about Canon PowerShot SD500 / IXUS 700 Digital Camera
Here's someone else that had a similar problem. It ended up being a bad ribbon cable connection to its connector. If you're lucky, simply reseating some of the obvious ribbon cables into their connectors may help, in particular any ribbon cable leading from the power switch. Note that if you've never seen one, most ribbon cable connectors have little hinge points that you lift with your fingernail to unseat the cable:

And finally, not sure what an SD70 is? Did you instead mean SD700 IS? If so, maybe one of the following disassembly guides may be of help. Recommend not proceeding any further than to simply gain access to the ribbon cable connectors:

Tips for a great answer:
THE MASTER RESET
(1) remove the battery pack
(2) press and hold the power button for 30 sec
(3) after put the battery back do not turn it on for 1 min
(4) turn on
