It may be the fluid in the CRT or convergence chips are bad.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replano crosshair on manuel convergence - 2c07611.pngs a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick email and they will put one together for you. Their kits includes photo instruction guides, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Hello, I purchased and installed one

You will need a original remote to make the changes to the multipoint and single crosshatches. Do a google search for remote controls to find the Philips remote.

Is there a code number that needs to be entered to bring the convergence pattern or menu on screen.

From a user standpoint you would follow these steps to bring up your Convergence menu:

1) Press your MENU button.

2) Press the Right Cursor Button to enter the Picture menu.

3) Press the Down Cursor Button until you highlight the MANUAL CONVERGENCE choice on the menu.

4) You will then see the following choices on the right hand side of the menu: Convergence Red, Convergence Blue, Multipoint Red, Multi Blue, Save Multipoint.

5) Once you choose either the Red or Blue choices you will get a crosshair in the middle of your screen. You will then use either your Up, Down, Left, or Right Cursor buttons to get the two images to line up correctly. If you still have multi images on your screen in either Red or Blue you would then have to adjust the Multipoint choice for that color.

I replaced the converegence chips on my Akai PT4298HD I can move the grid up and down but not left and right because not sure which buttons on my remote move it that way. The picture supplied of the one...

Hi,

You should be able to use the number buttons on the remote to move the cursor to the correct crosshair:

2 = UP
4 = LEFT
6 = RIGHT.
8 = DOWN

After moving the cursor you can adjust the convergence as follows:

CHANNEL (CH) UP = UP
CHANNEL (CH) DOWN = DOWN
VOL+ = LEFT (?)
VOL- = RIGHT (?)

Not sure which way round it is for left and right but you'll find out as soon as you press one of the buttons.

Hope this helps. Please post back if you need further assistance.

BElectric

Need code to enter on remote to engage multipoint convergence adjustments.Need save proceedure after adjustments are made & exit proceedure for RCA Projection TV Model # HD52W59, ITC 222A

Hello,

To get the code to enter on your remote to engage multipoint convergence adjustments, you need to contact the rca customer care for that, you get them your model number and they will get your code for you.

To process and save the adjustment made, follow the steps below;
  1. Look through your manual. Your manual will always give you the most specific directions for your particular model. Look for an "adjusting convergence" or "set manual convergence" section.
  2. Enter the menu on your TV. Use the remote control and bring up the menu.
  3. Choose "Convergence." This may be under "Picture Settings," "Function" or "Advanced Options."
  4. Select a color. You will have red, green and blue to choose from. Do each one, starting with red.
  5. Press "Enter." A crosshair pattern will appear on your screen.
  6. Adjust vertically. If there is a horizontal red line visible, press the up or down arrow keys (or channel up or down) to adjust the convergence until the line is superimposed on the horizontal-center line of the white crosshair.
  7. Adjust horizontally. If there is a vertical red line visible, press left or right (or volume up or down) to adjust horizontally. Do this until the line is superimposed on the vertical line of the white crosshair.
  8. Save settings. It is important to save your settings when you are done, instead of simply exiting the menu.
  9. Repeat these steps for all colors.
Take care

Convergence on blue does not work or multipoint

This model uses two of the STK-392-110 convergence IC chips. If convergence is skewed or will not adjust in some way---Both chips need to be replaced along with any of the the 6.8 ohm protect resistors around them that are bad.

The parts involved are not real expensive if you can do it or know someone who can do it for you. You can buy a pair of the chips on Ebay for about 12 dollars plus shipping and the resistors are easy to test and under a dollar each if you need them.

Most shops get 300 or more for this kind of repair, so if you are able to do it yourself--you can save the set and a lot of money.

I can give you general instructions on this model that will tell you what you need and how to do it--it varies a little from model to model, but the fix should take about one hour.

Let me know if you have questions--I am here to help people---I have fixed hundreds of sets with this kind of problem.

If this information helped you, rate this solution as I do this here for FREE.
