It's only 2 years old, I got it on QVC and they no longer handle any of Protron's line... I now know why... I called Protron too... Very rude CSR's,,, no help at all. I'm not gonna give up with QVC just yet though... This wheel needs some greasing!!

Panasonic DMR-EZ48V stopped working properly. It seems to have frozen up, but resetting it doesn't get it working again. When I reset by pushing the power button for 10 seconds, it flashes HELLO 15...

My unit is doing exactly the same thing. I've tried reloading the firmware, but it never appears to enter the First Time Setup. To load the CD I had to remove the cover, (disconnect the power) and manually eject the DVD tray. With the cover off, look on the side of the DVD. There is a square hole, directly above the screw that attaches the DVD to the chassis. Insert a stiff rod and push. The DVD tray will open. This is how I loaded the firmware CD. This all started after I rescanned the tuner and then did a manual channel edit. While trying to edit the channels, the unit stopped tuning and ended up in its current state.

Hello, PLEASE try pressing the FF button for 12 seconds to see if it has enough of an operating system to boot.Since your unable to see anything or operate this device, or run it, that is the reason you have to wait about 30 seconds, then press the OK button on the remote control if prompted, and then let the update for about 15 minutes. If it goes out, you must repeat the process with the same drive. Please remember to leave me feedback so that I may keep assisting you free of fee.

Please come back if you continue to have problems.

How do I get to at least watch a DVD or VCR

if after the hello display you open the tray and inserted already the dvd push play and the thing is always with the hello and after reasonable time (one minute) and nothing change the display stil with the hello thing:
use another dvd and the same answer.
your dvd is not read in the memory because the set is not able to do it and the memory is waiting for that data. So your Dvd memory is waiting for the mechanism to send that data and say: hello.
So time to visit a repair place. to amke sure about any estimate.

Dropped PANSONIC DVD-LS855 and screen displays garbage HELP

Do you want a changellage? Do you know how to solder? With a pencil thin soldering gun ? open the equipment(dvd) and carefully look for a cracked board. If anything, RESOLDER every large 'bump' of solder on the circuit board. they are usually ground or return paths for electricity and the "DROP" could have loosen the solder connection.
lots of luck

Fixed mine by opening up and replacing ide cable to the DVD burner. Was flashing hello. When opened up and touched the ide cable it would spin up the drive for a second. Its possible it was loose connection to the power plug in the drive but replaced ide cable just in case. Has been working perfect since. Very roomy inside and easy to do.
