My daugther has new HP Pavilion/Vista. Trying to get wireless adaper to work. Has 2WIRE wireless modem, . . .went to Office Depot for wireless adapter. The D-Link DWA160 adapter was highly recommened. The "wireless internet connection" is not recognized. D-Link mentioned the Drivers. AT&T Level 2 support ran the check on her modem and messed witht the channels also.
I found the D-Link webpage with download, one is to remove
"- Remove Useless EAP Sub Type 1.10" and the other is "¤ Updated Vista Driver". Damn, I wish she had gotten the 2WIRE adapter, . . .what is your advise using the D-LINK adapter? Thanks.

I fail to see what difference a brand name makes here. So long as whichever router you have is compatible with the equipment provided by your ISP you should be good to go.

Well, if that does not work then perform the below task to check for the correct IP address that you need to have access to:
# Connect your computer directly to your wireless router and perform the following tests. A. Click on Start—Programs—Accessories—Command Prompt. B. In Command Prompt window, type in 'ipconfig' and hit 'Enter'. Note down the IP Address, Subnet mask & Default Gateway here. Also, mail us the same IP configuration.
Now on your browser type the IP Address as saw in default gateway. This should work.

Anand

You need to hook up the AC power supply to your router, hook up your cable modem to your router, there should be a specific port on your router, most likely yellow in color, you'll hook the modem to the router using the supplied ethernet cable, it looks like a big phone cord.

Try to reset your router, just press reset button for at least 1 minute (look for small button in your router if there is no reset title) reseting will restore the manufaturer router settings.
